Scales measures and weights: Let the knowledge of education brighten your world.

The tare function is good for weighing doses in empty capsules, especially if it's with something in low mg range doses (like 2C-P, 3-MeO-PCP or something), because a lot of scales don't work too well with less than 10mg of anything on them.
I often balance the gel cap in the empty lid of a glass amber vial as well. The added weight seems to make the scales more accurate in small increments, so it helps that
I don't weigh stuff by just putting it directly on the scales - it is always in a dish or something.
I've always found it a better way to handle stuff.

fair do's I've done it both ways tbh,

I only did gels caps when weighing up batches. No, not for sale, just for keeping things neat.

My thoughts were psychedelics especially the sensitive ones...

We don't talk about the 2ce one do we shamooz...

Yeah, caps are a good way of taking a couple of doses of something with you on nights out, camping trips or just future doses pre-weighed. I don't associate it with dealing at all really - but that's maybe a cultural thing, because i don't come across selling things in capsules.

Most street powder drugs i've ever seen in australia have been sold in in plastic sealed baggies.
Very rarely something might be in aluminium foil - most often, weed.
But never usually powder in capsules or 'wraps' of powder like you find in the UK...though i know mdma is sold in caps here, i've never had them

I used to get hash oil in caps, but never mdma or anything.
Caps are good for dosing dried, powdered mushies - but again only really did that for personal use.
I've not had 2C-E, but i imagine like the phen psychs i have taken, it would very potent and bitter - as are the 4-sub tryptamines and such.
I'd rather skip the taste bit with these sorts of things if possible...and i sometimes need to weigh things long before i plan to take them...so i'm a big fan of gel/vege capsules.

ive read about such things before, accidental overdoses with lsd. theres a saturation point with acid iirc, and anything beyond a certain level just prolongues the experience.... unforgettable and probably difficult experience, but i doubt it was as dangerous as say taking 10x the amount of mdpv on a first try.

skins really are so light weight that unless you're taking something SO precise by intricate weight there is no reason to tare a a skin imo. Then again, HR better be safe than sorry.

The only reason you need scales is for dose sensitive chemicals to be fair. A little experience and most drug users can eyeball 100-200mg for most substances with no real danger. Start eyeballing anything less than 50mg and I am playing with fire when it comes to some drugs where 10mg is fun, 30mg is a coma.

Mg scales are only really good for MDMA like substances where doses in the 50-100mg increments are common. If you are trying measure 5mg increments you need to spend the money for a ug scale which is sensitive enough to detect the difference between 5 and 10mg

I don't trust any scale (outside of the Chem labs I promise I don't sneak in periodically) to more than 10mg accuracy.
I feel much safer dosing volumetrically - even a 10% inaccuracy means a g/dm3 solution will give 4.5mg-5.5mg in 5ml as opposed to 2-30mg+ eyeballed.

You do get what you pay for when it comes to scales. A set of weighted measures is also handy

Aye, if you can its best to pay as much as you can (£100's not £10's). We have a few sets and the ones with the calibration weights have always been accurate. I quite like playing with the weights and the wee dish too.

On a silly note I have a necklace we call the K bumper... So many people have commented on it. It looks like this:

Handmade on the Isle of Sky :D

Reminder: never measure your ketamine on a necklace kids. Never.

thats wicked koneko! ^^^

protip : use greaseproof paper from your kitchen, cut into a small square that fits on your scales little tray, you can then tare the scale, add your substance to the little paper folder inside the measuring cup, then once you have the right weight, easily empty it out of the paper into whatever you like.

a bunch of us were 'testing' our burning man liquid acid a couple of weeks before burning man one year. a friend who had never done acid joined us and so our friend (we'll call her tina) took her into the kitchen to give her a dose from the dropper. when we came out we said "you just started her out with one right?" to which tina replied "yep, just one dropper full" :) we measured it out and she had dosed her with 14 drops of liquid acid. considering it was her first time, she handled it pretty well...

alasdair

has a similar situation in 'dam, my mate (bill) thought our whole group's supply was just his dose. neeedless to say, his nickname from themcforth was 'pscobilly.'
