Hi everyone, I'm bringing up the issue about people giving sources to scales, milligram scales in particular, being against the rules. It is against the rules for "sourcing", but I believe that this defeats the main principle behind BL as a whole; Harm reduction. With proper guidance and with people being allowed to properly direct people to scales that will do their job well to measure out substances which people intend to consume, I believe this will follow the principle of harm reduction so people will know how much of said substance they will be consuming. Many people, unable to find a proper scale in their price range, will try and take the cheap and harmful way out, irresponsibly "eye-balling" their dose. In some cases, this leads to overdose, sometimes being a fatal one.

I believe making this allowed would do a lot more good than bad. I would love to hear some more views on this, let them be good or bad, as long as there are valid reasons to support the viewpoints. Thank you!

There was an indication in this thread that the management is looking at possibly adjusting some of the scope of the sourcing rule.

BL's survival over the years probably has a lot to do with staff and members being avid about avoiding sourcing and stuff that comes even close to sourcing on the site. I'd have a hard time recommending vendors of scales or paraphenalia to other BLers even if allowed and I had used the vendor successfully. Does the vendor have a privacy policy? Could a list of scale customers make it into the hands of law enforcement? Even if my transaction went well do I know that they stand by their product and handle customer problems with units that are inaccurate or broken on arrival.

Interesting question, both you and ET have very good points. We'll see if an admin can jump in with some more insight.

Yes scale sources are a form of harm reduction but it is my personal opinion that making it easy for costumers to get thier hands on a quality mg scales for cheep might be seen as enableing. i mean if a user is not able to procure a reliable mg scale, then maybe they shouldn't be doing chemicals that require the use of a mg scale...
putting mg scales into the hands of people who arent ready to deal with mg chemicals sounds a bit dangerous to me but let's let the admin's decide.

it's entirely possible for bluelight participants to encourage the use of appropriate scales - consistent with harm reduction - without explicitly providing sources.

Erm...there's already a Big and Dandy Scales Thread in PD. Link. Where you can discuss sources for scales, and it's not against the rules, because it's obviously HR. UTFSE people.

Yep as shown in some forums, scale source disussion is definitely allowed PD being one and EADD another. As long as the scale source is not a headshop or selling other banned items a lot of forums will allow such discussion.
