Saving Myself

Addiction is truly deadly.

However I have come to see addiction can vary greatly and some addictions can be healthy.

I want to discuss the concept of addiction in future entries but let me make clear right now that it is my choice whether I kill myself with drugs or live to see another day. That is my choice. No one else, nothing else can make that choice for me. And yet I don't claim to be totally capable of being powerful enough to guard against making ill choices so I rely on powers greater than myself to guide me.

Guide, not carry.

 

Sometimes, life gives you hurdles you need to cross. But sometimes, it can give you hills or even mountains to climb. It can even give you a valley or two you need to get out off. It takes longer if you have no one to pull you out. Or you'll never come out. It's always nice to have someone who helps you climb that mountain. Who manages the rope to get you over it. It's great to have someone toss you a rope so you can climb out that valley.
Just never think you can do something alone, because in the end, you won't be able to climb that mountain, or escape that valley.
If you can... than you're a superhero. Because in my experience, you need something to hold on to. Hold the rope and let that someone pull you up.
