Save a cop's life: end the drug war

No shit.

Jesus the drug war pisses me off beyond belief.

I was watching the show DEA the other day and everytime they made a drug bust they fucking jumped with joy.

"When i get a dealer off the street that is selling to kids and could possibly ruin their futures it makes me feel so good"(something along those lines)

Ummmm no you didnt do shit there are many people who will be glad to fill that position and kids can just get drugs from somewhere else?

All you did was halt the supply of drugs for a day.

I love how cops have this disturbed view of drug dealers, like they all wear trenchcoats and hang out on the corner of an elementary school chewin toothpicks and flippin a nickle waiting to push heroin to 7th graders.

The police is the last organization that wants drugs made legal.. If they became legal then we wouldn't need as many cops and therefore federal and state funding for the police departments would go down and lots of cops would lose their jobs. Cops are going to be the ones right next to the military once/if food/water riots start in the US putting people in "detention camps" aka concentration camps, aka jails..... The DOJ website says it wants to have 45% of the US population in jail by the year 2019....

Fuck the police.

Save a brown person's life: End the drug war

would be a much more compelling argument imo.

Yea I saw this where after makeing a big bust they alll went to the bar to celibrate by geting drunk.

Catch some illegal drug dealers then go suport legal drug dealers and do legal drugs to celibrate.

Even my mom agreed with me on the hypocracy of that.

It seems like cops once they're in the good ol' boy club for a while start to develop an us vs. them type deal. They feel like it's good vs. evil war and that they're righteous in their mission. They see in black and white when life is nothing but one giant gray area.

They bust a junkie and they got a grin on their face like your high school teacher did when they caught you smoking in the boy's room. It's insane that anyone really thinks that charging drug users with crimes against society and jailing them does anything other than make it harder for them to live normally within society. The justice system is no place for drug addicts.

^unless their addiction is leading to criminal/violent behavior. But, yes, I agree with your statement.

I think giving people handguns (cops) leads to violent behavior.

I don't dislike cops, I understand they have a job to do and I realize that the way the law is written that I am violating the very laws that the cops are paid to enforce. However I feel that most cops would bend or even break the very laws they are paid to enforce if they felt the ends justified the means. Unfortunately that has caused a lot of heartache in the world.

When I was arrested for selling bulk diazepam and GHB there were 9 cops vs. just me. I was pulled out of my car with my hands on my head and the cop behind me had his handgun to the back of my head, as if I was like Neo from The Matrix and was going to kill all 9 of them with my barehands. After I was handcuffed they still had their sidearms pointed at me, now my question is, why? Save a junkie's life, take the guns away from cops.

the inside of prisons and jails are populated by a majority of violent offenders that let their addictions get the best of them.

if i had a crystal ball or some brilliant wits i would have an answer to the whole drug war boondoggle . i think that society has done it's best to address these violent offenders and what the fuck else can be done ?

one gets straight on their own steam . the recovery racket is no answer to lack of emotional maturity . caving into the whole instant gratification paradigm thing is infantile . but then years ago i was guilty of letting narcotics get the best of me.

believe me when i say that i met no one in jail that was in for simple possession ! there are people that just are no fucking good and what is society to do with them ?

That's the point. They arrest drug addicts because they say drugs cause other violent crimes like robbery, burglary, etc. Arresting an entire group of people because a few of them might commit other crimes is insanity. Just arrest them when they commit the other crimes then. What's the problem with that? You get what I mean?

I understand cops gotta do a job, but the culture of that job I feel breeds resentment towards these criminals and a large majority of the people rank and file cops working the beat come into contact with are using drugs. So they see drug and automatically think scum. It's black and white, no gray. There's no thought of oh well, he's an addict, but he's never hurt anyone in his life so lets leave this otherwise law abiding citizen alone. It's get the junkie scum. And if you get caught with drugs, you must be out of control and an addict. There's no distinction in the mind of many cops between a recreational user and an addict, we're all one in the same. You use drugs, you're an addict, end of story.

The State in capitalist society is a machine for the oppression of the working class.

Revolution's first act is to smash it.

That's authentic Marxism.

Keep watching that show. The police brutality displayed is ridiculous. I could not believe the things some of these guys do right in front of cameras, such as the old "my dog is going to bite you if you don't tell us who you got it from" shtick.

The big crystal meth bust was also hilarious, a few of the cops in that room developed the sniffles right after they arrived back at the office with the meth.

They still don't belong in jail unless they are in jail because of the violent behavior, or otherwise criminal aside from victim-less "crimes".

If we put violent people in jail only because of the drug laws and their harsher penalties, what if one day we over-turn convictions when drugs become legalized? Violent people are allowed to go free only because the state chose to prosecute them as a drug offender instead of a violent one due to a harsher penalty?

This sort of effect is having a negative effect now, and it'll continue to have a negative effect as our society begins to run away from the massive failure that is the war on drugs.

believe me when i say that i met no one in jail that was in for simple possession !

The federal government reserves the right to execute people who have been caught trafficking large quantities of drugs into the country.

I think not putting people in jail for simple possession is how they manage to have a society with jails in the first place. They just fine you, and put you on probation, and a combination of these things sucks thousands and thousands of dollars for every poor sap who doesn't know their rights, or even despite knowing one's rights one had a nasty encounter with a cop who violated their rights, and the following legal proceedings don't end up falling in line in their own favor.

And even if that legal proceeding does end up in your favor, it's not like the state is going to be like "Oh, sorry sir, my bad, here's your heroin we confiscated from you"..... where does that leave a dealer? Cutting the rest of his product to make up for the loss? Where would that leave a user? Stealing another hundred or two hundred dollars or more from a loved one, from a store, due to committing fraud, etc?

Not going to jail is the least of your concerns with the amount of punishments some states have for drug users.

The state of Washington (IF there is a god, THANK YOU GOD because I am alive and NOT LIVING in the state of Washington) pays people $5,000 to rat on people who are growing enough weed plants. There's no equivalent amount of money for ratting on anyone else for any other drug, or any violent crime for that matter!
