Awesome event.
and a nice job of keeping the timeslots organized despite the room switching going on and all that jazz...well done.
Kinda curious where H-Foundation was...oh well.

Mack and I had a great time opening up for the main stage. Pretty sure that everyone that was there early enough to hear us play was satisfied with the sounds they heard. It was a good set IMO...Lot of diversity and some good technical mixing and flow...
And it was fun to close the night on an impromptu note after Baby Anne finished up in the Status room.. The sound system was totally janked up but it was still a good 'goof around' type set....some people were diggin :)

I have to say I was really impressed with Grayarea...I loved what they did. I also enjoyed Centrex's set a bunch.
As well I got to catch some of Midislut in the side room dropping some very nice tech-tribal House...loved it.

I didn't even stand around much for the Planet of the Drums thing cause I hate MCs overtop of DnB...sucks. It totally takes me out of the music...so instead I went and watched some of Nautikat's set...which was some of the best Hard House I've ever heard (that's not saying a whole bunch...but it was quality stuff...very nice). And saw a bit of Baby Anne's frustrations with the sound and equipment in the Status room...hehe...then we took over after that...

Great venue....great vibe....lots of really nice people all over the place...it was an experience! :)

thanks Mike and crew

i must say that this was one of my more enjoyable times at the factory. it brought back memories of twilight sundaze back in the mekka days. i spent most of my time in the lounge, catching mike donovan (thanks for the cd's), slater hogan (thanks for the wax), kid chaos, doug burkhart and of course, jason and mark. the vibe was thick, the sound was awesome, and the drinks were flowing. i also caught as much as i could of walker and dave before my set (keep it up, boys)

thanks to mike for having me, i had a great time, looking forward to many more events.........rock on.

i think i'm finally rested enough to review..... the 12 hours went by fast, but by the end i was more than ready to go

john & seth--great set, both times.... never thought i'd actually be into progressive house, but i love your stuff

lady 4square--another amazing set, caught the first half and about the last 5 mintues....very nice... and always good to see ya marea

sinister&shapeshifter--uber-great set.... you need to stop killing sound systems though matt, i suppose i'll let it slide since you took your shirt off though ;) jack, i love redline, it's fucking amazing, i think it's been taken out of my car maybe once since i got it....stellar track selection, some of my faves, and the mixing is astounding--two thumbs way up =D

bombay--hung around b/c i was curious and was glad i did, i normally can't stand turntabilism for more than 5 minutes, but what you did totally kept my attention

craze--very impressed, had more dnb than i expected so i was pleasantly suprised

potd--omg.... *drools* these guys are the reason no one could find me for 2 hours.... arron was heaven. although i think they coulda turned down the mc mics a bit and turned up the music....kinda lost some of it's feeling....or off all together

i really wanted to catch john b but after potd i was dead, the 5 minutes i could stand being around a crowd still were outstanding though.... caught about 1 mintue of baby anne before john and seth took over, still not a big fan of hers (although i do like her live in las vegas mix), camped out in front of the fan for awhile then caught a bit of kimball collins.....

blue adonis and david--nice meeting both of you, hope to run into you both again soon
andy and zarah--glad you guys decided to come and thanks for letting me sleep w/ your girlfriend.... oh yeah, and you never should have fed me bacon, you'll never get rid of me now
kyle--love ya doll....next party imma make it a point to spend a lil more time w/ ya... as long as you make it a point to tell me bye (hehe...kidding)
lesley and tisha--always nice to hang w/ the better halves of sinister&shapeshifter
curtis--good to see ya again :)
lea--it was nice bumping into your smiling face throughout the party
leah--always nice to see ya and chat w/ ya

i'm sure i'm forgetting someone or something, but i had a great time and thanks to everyone who came out and supported, all the djs that played, and everyone who worked to put this event together.....not something i'll soon forget =D

I had so much fun at this event that I don't know where to begin. First of all major props and mad respect to Mike for pulling this off. Thank you for having me out to play, it was definately fun.

I think I'll add a review of my own for this :)

Got there around 5pm. Ran into Mr. Mayhem & Mr. Nunnery and got filled in on how things had gone so far. Ran into Brandon at the front door. (How do you feel about Vicks?)

Somehow every time I was in the main room, I was not aware of who was playing except for the obvious POD and I really didn't stay there for long.

I wondered through the Amnesia side of things, and when people are giving props to Sinister vs Shapeshifter up here it was WELL deserved. I am not a big fan of typical broken muffler drum & bass, but these guys were tearing up the musical side of the genre and it was much appreciated because too many djs just go for the typical dark noisey anthems - if the room had not been so hot I would have stayed in there a bit longer. Absolutely amazing.

As luck had it, Amnesia was too hot and I made way to the Lounge to catch much of Mike Donovan's set. Mike, you NEVER disappoint... very good.

I spent 90% of my time in the lounge, because that was the room where HOUSE lived :) Slater Hogan threw down a bumpin set. Mr. Poe -- it was the first time I remember hearing you play out and you threw down quite proper... it was definately a pleasure.

Corey did not disappoint either. You also rock it out and you had the crowd bumpin' - and wether you noticed it or not John B made it on the dancefloor for a bit of your set.

Although I was a bit nervous to start, I had fun with my set. Thanks to Radin, Ronnie, Steph & Steph, Darbe, and Avalon for the support on the dancefloor! It was also nice to see Shell & Mike and Mr. Pons. I wish I would have been able to check out Gray Area.

Then Mayhem and Lemon Lyman gave the room a real lesson in house. I was a bit disappointed about Halo & Hipp-e but you guys DEFINATELY helped ease the pain. It was nice to see so many people representing the Columbus house music to the max - including Mr. Soulo up front leading the pack. It really feels good to watch people who truely love the music have fun.

Finally I decided I had enough of the heat and took off before I got to hear John B, which was my only regret of the day.

It was nice to talk to some of you who I have never had a conversation with before as well.

Thanks again, Mike. I hope this turns into a new tradition!

--- doug burkhart

Sorry for my late review on the night. But i as i sit here and think about how my night went on saterday it brings me nothing but smiles. I had a blast. And thanks to the crews that mad it possible(mike, brandon, ed, The factory,ect ect.)

I showed up around 4:30 to catch a little bit of sinister&shapeshifter, ladyfoursquare and hang with some friends. I must say that jack, matt and marea started my night off really well. matt&jack you guys are on your way to the top. You killed that sound system. Marea- i have never seen you play before but heard great things, and i was jammin. you have some really dope tracks girl.It was also fun hanging out with you and talking.

Then i got really hungry and left to go eat at taco bell, which was prolly one of the dumbest mistakes i made of the night. Cause about an hour later i spent some quality time with the toilet at big bear cause the bathrooms at the factory were nasty. So i got back in time to just to hear craze play, and damn that cat brought the thunder. Made me soil in my pants a few more times:( After that i went into the lounge to hear doug burkhart thowing down some really awsome house tunes. Doug you are a insparation, and i cant wait till the next time i get to hear you play.

Jason and i got the scoope that H-foundation missed there flight and that we had to play for 3 hours. Which sucked cause i really wanted to see them, but yet was cool cause me and jay got to rock it out for 3 hrs.

Jason- i must say that i was really nervouse, concidering that we had never played together before and also we hadent really planned out what we were gonna do. You kept me on my toes the whole time and i enjoyed every bit of it. I cant wait till this friday at the bad boy bill show @ fabric, we are gonna do it all over again.

As for the rest of the night, i went over to the bar and got even more drunk listening to the sounds of john b. That guy tore it up. Then left the club went to tee-jays and ate a big ass barnyard buster.

To the rest of you that i saw and hung out with, thanks for the support and love.It was fun and i hope to do it again soon.

The people reading this and decided not to come to this. You guys missed out on prolly one of the funest partys of the year. I hope you make it out to Independance. Should make it number 2

Other great sets of the night: midislut,kid chaos, slater hogan,ororo & sparrow, nelson. Sorry if i missed the rest of you guys. Maybe i will get to catch you at Independance.

To al the Ascension djs that played at Zoolu: Great job guys representing. You all are on your way. Lets keep this shit rollin.

This party will go down in the books, great job guys, hope this is just a warm up to future events(Independance). See you all Aug, 9th.......

~~~Mark Mayhem
Had a great time! The lounge was BANGIN'. I am, However, a bit upset that Hipp-e and Halo didn't show. Beyond anyones control. But, still *Wipes tear from eye* It was nice talking to you Lady Foursquare, and if you should happen to speak to Paul Johnson....Tell him, Penney sends her LOVE!
As for a comment I read earlier in this thread about people sleeping in corners. I WAS one of those sleeping. I fell asleep in the lounge. NOT from drugs. I am drug free. I came to this event sick.
:p
trust me you were in the minority. Safe bet that people crashed out on the floor at a party aren't sober.
I didn't think it was that bad honestly. I guess you just kind of get used to seeing it after a while. Hell as long as they're off the dancefloor I couldn't care less.
props again to all involved this was a day and night to remember:)
btw shapeshifter~ that cd is hawd as fawk yo;)
Hats off to Big Nunn & Mythodic for putting on one of the dopest parties I've been to in years. I'm not a party kid anymore but you keep puttin on shows like this and I will!
Arrived just in time to hear Shapeshifter/Sinister. Damn, you dudes drop bombs on the regular! Always a pleasure to witness you two. Too bad that room was so damn hot. Didn't hurt to have Sinister bouncing around with his shirt off..sure made me forget the heat..for awhile anyway. :) Shapeshifter's new cd is unbelieveable! Everyone must own a copy!
I spent most of the day in the lounge considering it was cooler in there (at times) and less crowded (at times)
Other highlighted sets:
*Doug Burkhart- my first experience watching you spin and was totally impressed! Can't wait to see you again.
*Midislut-Bangin shit! I always love your sets!
*Kid Chaos-You da man...I love you Corey!
*Mark Mayhem/Lemon Lyman-Mad props to you! You rocked my sox off! While the two of you were nervous about spinning together, I KNEW it was a recipe for success! I haven't danced my ass off like that in a long time. Anyone who missed it--I feel sorry for you! But, you can see them this Friday w/ Bad Boy Bill @ Fabric. Definitely NOT TO BE MISSED!
Just missed Kraze & POTD :( But I did get my pic taken with Kraze so that's cool.
*Jon B-This dude is fucking SICK! Somebody please bring this guy back. His set was WAY TOO SHORT for my liking. I love Djs that interact with the crowd-he's awesome. Cool hair too!
I had such a great time at this party! I ran into cats I haven't seen in ages, witnessed some pretty dope sets& danced my ass off! Great party!!
PS-Mark, no more Taco Bell dear. How could it have affected you like that and not me? WEIRD! 8(
OMG! i am so happy that I made it out to this event. I haven't
seen a vibe or a crowd like that in Ohio since Revolution last year.
I met sooo many cool people and i danced my ass off.
Shapeshifter/Sinister- I have never seen these guys before and they were awesome they kept me dancing even though it ws soo hot in there i couldn't keep still.
JJ boogie- really good set I am not the biggest fan of trance but i really enjoyed it i danced for awhile. I also had the pleasure to hang out and talk to him for awhile. He is one of the nicest guys i have met.(good lookin on going and getting us thecd's i really like it)
Craze - def. one of the best dj's i have seen the first time i saw him spin was at revolution and he got me liking dnb. he is also a very nice guy i got a chance to talk to him and he is a very cool person.
POTD- totally amazing is all i have to say i love dnb and they ripped it. i wasn't out on the main dancefloor because i was about to pass out from the heat but i stayed on the balcony to hear them. The crowd was going nuts i ahve nevr seen anything like that. Also the policemen smiling and nodding his head to the music was great.
Overall this was a night that i will always remember i had such a great time and met so many cool people and the vibe was amazing. I was soo sad when the lights came on i really never wanted the night to end.
:) whittney
missed it
well damn i wish i would of gone now, i ended up sayin fuck it, was too much damn money for a party. Why cant parties be like they used to be, $5-$10? Ah well. Oh even though i didn*T go...i got a final thought for the MC that played there. YOU SUCK!!!!
MC's ruin DJ Sets, all they do is blab and blab and blab about stupid shit that makes no sense.
I wasn't there so i don't know but i generally agree with the "MC needs a bullet" statement... HOWEVER when i saw messinian in chi in april, i thought he was great.
ZOO-LU! Wow, what an event. I don't even know where to start from. First off, thanks so much to everyone who put up with the heat and enjoyed our set. I had a great time playing w/ Sinister as usual... but wow was it fun to rock out that sauna and see people moving like that!
Lemon Lyman & Mark Mayhem - The lounge was my spot that night. A great vibe was goin on in during the fortunate extended set they played. I really enjoyed the music and atmosphere... if you missed it, I feel sorry for you. Lots of respect going out to you two.
POTD - You'll rarely see something quite like that. If you did, you know what I mean and really deserves no explanation. If you're into hard-edged d&B... you probably died and went to heaven during that 2hrs.
John B - John wrapped up the night in the lounge, and holy-moly I thought the roof was gonna ignite! Dope tunes, insanely wicked vibe... nuff said. I wish I could've caught more of this, but I have a feeling he'll be back ;)
Big thanks from me to Mike, Donnie, Brandon & Scott... I feel honored to have played at Zoolu. Thanks so much for your hard work & dedication. Thanks to Mark & Jason for playing the way they did and making the lounge such a fun place to be! Also, thanks to Jason for the amazing cd. Thanks to Matt/Sinister for his talent and enthuisiasm... I can't wait for the next performance (Toledo July 19th!). And most importantly, thanks to Lesley for yet another amazing weekend, I love you.
Time to look forward to Revolution 4!
See you there.
Wanted to thank everyone for the kind words regarding Mark and I's set. It was the first time we played together, and yes I was a bit nervous. But I had enough drinks in me by that point to get rid of any amount of nerves!!
I look foward to banging it out with mark again this friday...
Jack, your CD is amazing as well.
