Definitely one of the best parties I've been to in recent memory. I had the bad luck of spinning at the same time as Planet of the Drums so I missed what I hear was a dope set. But all that aside, thank you for throwing a well organized dope-ass party!

I knowmost of it has been said by now, but I would like to throw my two cents in as well.

This was my First time to the Factory, and I friggin, loved it. That is an awesome venue. I loved all of the DJs I heard, and I heard most of em.

I feel bad for the DJs that had to play opposite POTD though. That's a tough act to pull people from.

I want to give a shout out to NautiKat, that was some good shite bein thrown. I'm sorry I couldn't stay for the whole set, but I had been there since four and was about to pass out or throw up or both, from the heat in that room.

And thanks to Shapeshifter for the CD, the set rocked and so did the CD.

My only problem with the place was in the back room. I don't know if it was just me, but I thought the sound was waaaay too loud for the size of the room. Maybe it was just because of the problem, but it was too loud. I always operate off of a less is more principle, and I think you lose a lot from sets if everything is too loud. The same could be said in part in the room where NautiKat played.

Overall, this is probably my favorite rave ever, but I've been to some nice ones so it's hard to say. Thanks to all who made it such a blast. I hope to see some people in my neck of the woods for Freedom in Louisville, and I will mos def be back for Independance in august.

hey thanks for the set compliments and hope everyone who got a CD likes it...

as far as the event goes, I thought it was a great party and had an AWESOME vibe...

i have not seen such an active and excited crowd in a long time in Ohio...for the event getting going so early too, people we're pretty high energy by 7:00 and kept it going till the end...

couple points of interest for me:

DJ Craze - dope DJ but possibly an even cooler person...was gracious and courteous after I was done playing and before he went on. Afterwards he was all about hanging out and having fun

Aus-10 - don't know if you ended up getting to play my dude but this kid worked his ass off from what I saw fixing technical problems and moving stages...knowing for some time while he did this that he was probably not going to get to play his slot in the room, he still tok care of me and other djs

POTD - not a fan of the music, but a fan of the energy and vibe it created

Centrex, Devo, S&S, Mayhem were all people I heard at times that sounded quite good as well...sorry I did not get to see more of you play but I was busy downing the tequila with old friends...

Venue, lighting, sound and everything else seemed to be top notch with the exception of a few glitches which does happen...

As far as the turnout goes, a bit less than I had hoped but still they were pushing 1400 or so last count I heard I think...not too shabby considering the heat and long weekend...I know a lot of people were burnt out and broke by the time Saturday hit...

Thanks for having me out Mike - it was the perfect kick off for the CD tour...doubt I'll top this show the rest of the year!

And one othe side note, I'm not sure who all played and di not get to play but earlier on there was some bitching about timeslots and some supposed favoritism towards CBUS DJS...from what I saw, some of the CBUS djs were the ones who got cut off or did not play or accepted multple timeslot changes...professional and courteous to all who came from out of town...

Mike - great show dude, I hope this becomes a tradition and that you put something else together again this year. It seemed to me to be a great platform to bigger things. Hope Donnie had a good time here in Ohio...

thanks again dude...

FYI - the guy before me was DEVO from Chicago...I think he is part of Mythodic with Mike so he can probably get you more information on him...cool cat and very friendly as well as a fine DJ...

WOW!! what an excellent time!! right now i'm just too lazy 2 write a BIG, LOOOOOONG review...it was nice 2 c some fellow BL'ers again and also nice 2 meet some new 1's as well...my favorite acts were GRAYAREA, who were really cool guys 2 talk with and CRAZE who was nice enough 2 pose 4 a picture...possible more on this later...

I had a blast.... Craze tore that shit up! I would have liked to hear him spin hip hop, but he definitely got the crowd going with his sick dnb. I recommend bringing him back.

I haven't seen the crowd that hyped in a while. Everyone was dancing and going crazy throughout the night. Madd props there.

And hey! Chadd Allen was there and nothing bad happened! WOW =)

First of all...all i can say is WOW....what a great party.. great vibe from start to finish...I havent felt a vibe like that in such a long time...

I would first like to start off by thanking everyone that came out and made this event such a success...

Second I would like to thank all of the locals/regional djs that came out and rocked the party...you guys and gals represented to the fullest...thank you so much for all your support and understanding with time slots and technical difficulties....

I didnt get to catch many of the sets but the ones i did hear were off the hook....once again thanks to all....

Now to the headliners...:

POTD- Not a big D&B fan but these guys fucking tore the roof off of the place...i had not seen energy in that room like that since i had started throwing events there back when it was glow...sick sick sick set....blew my mind...even had teh cops dancin' in the back... =)

Craze- This is a BAD MAN...he shredded the dance floor...omg...and what a super cool cat...cant wait to bring him back...

Kimball...Probably one of the dopest trance djs i have ever seen...this guys knows how to rock a party...and again one of the nicest most down to earth djs i have met to date...

john b- wow...the guy had the energy kickin' in the lounge...great set...

as far as halo and hippe go...we were told they missed their flight...so there will for sure be a make up date...im so sorry but it was beyond our control.. =(

didnt get to catch much of baby anne's set and i know we had some technical difficulties in that room...sorry bout that peeps...but shit happens ya know.. =)

as far as the venue is concerned...we had to at the last min make teh decision to move the party inside to status...which was our last resort option...didnt wantt to do it we were not willing to put peoples lives at risk being outside and a severe thunderstorm roll through...we knew whichever decision we would make would be the wrong one...as soon as we set up the sound in the other room it got all sunny...but as you guys saw it started storming late at night and that would have been right when the headliners went on...so it was a tough decsion but one im happy with ....

and lastly i want to thank all of the crews that worked on this show....(Scott Litch, Aaron Miller -Aus10- Seas Kim, Travis Hunter and Eric Lyons, Brandon Perry and Ed ) it was so good to work with all of you guys...i couldnt have done it with out all of you. and lastly it was such a great experience working with the man...disco donnie..this guy knows his shit and knows how to throw a party...thanks so much for all of your knowledge and insight bro...it was such a great learning experience..

again thank you so much to everyone that came out and supported...keep an eye out for more events in the near future...

I had a great time at the party. I spent most of the night in the lounge, as that's where the music that I particularly dig was being played. Plus it was way cooler back there. Thanks to everyone who was grooving to the sounds that Mark and I were laying down. Look foward to rockin it with him again this friday. Thanks to Mike for having us out and letting us rock out the extended set due to H-Foundations cancellation... And to John B who was super cool.
Jason

dope party.....no sound probs in the lounge and a suprising number of people for 4 in the afternoon.....glad to see J3 out and about...I don't think there's a set of monitors in existance that can take the abuse of a 12 hour party.....

favorite moment.....watching brandon, AK, and DSL fanning off the monitors with vinyl simultaneously.......

least favorite moment.....Craze's set gettin cut short.....

all in all this shit was drama free for the most part and thank god the turnout was as good as it was, c-bus needed it....p&n

JJ's set was dope and I was totally blown away by him, Craze and Kimball Collins! The whole party was by far the best time I have had in awhile!! Thanks to all who put it together for us!!! I only wish more people could have seen it!

So why didn't H-Foundation show up??? I'm kind of glad I didn't come down, I would have been totally disappointed....

Just a quick note for me...

We found some of our favorite sets in the off room's---
Quantum, John B, Burkhart

John B's set was just sick-----and he was a really cool guy.
Quantum, though I know a Columbus regular, I had never heard before, and I loved going in and dancing when absolutely no one was in the room, and then watching the place fill up.

Unfortunately, I completely missed Grayarea--boo! The room and schedule changes were a wee bit confusing to keep up with at times...

Glad to get to hang out with much of my crew--but a little mad at myself I didn't talk to too many new people.

And lastly, Liberty----you just gotta love him.

Hello one and all!

I had such an amazing time this weekend. Thanks to everybody who braved the heat to come to this event and to those who braved even more heat and a few technical difficulties to come and party with me in the sposed-to-be-outdoor-but-ended-up-indoor main stage. Once we got everything rolling it was smooth sailing. I was glad to meet some of the bluelighters whose names I see all the time, but whose faces I didn't know yet. There are so many kind people on this board.

Usually... I would start by putting up my favorite sets of the event and I will get to that shortly, but first and foremost I want to thank Mike from Mythodic and Brandon. In all the wahoo about timeslots, Mike went way past the call of duty to try to make sure everybody was happy. With all the things he had to do, I can't imagine it was easy for him to find the time to make much courtesy, but he was a consumate professional and kind person to the nth degree and one of the most accomodating, organized and courteous promoters I have ever had the pleasure to work with. He went out of his way to be a gentleman. Awesome.

Brandon, as always, took excellent care of me in the same respect. From event to event, when someone is so constant, it can become easy to take what people do for granted. Every once in a while, like when you find yourself playing at an event with the rich and historic legacy of Zoolu, I step back and realize how much he's done for me. I owe you so much B!

Neither of these guys have easy jobs. I was proud to watch them and the rest of the organizers work as a solid crew (Not to mention the man himself: Disco Donnie ) to make this complicated machinery function like a well oiled monster car.

Now on to the music!

My set of the the event was: Craze... I think this needs no elaboration. For aspiring turntablists, this is the grail. Period.

Also amazing...Jason Lyman and Mark Mayhem: I had (and I don't know how I avoided this being the house nut that I am and the fact that we live just a short distance apart) never seen them before. POW! Badasses.

Ororo and Sparrow: I can't wait to get these kids into Louisville on august 1st for the undergroundevent we are hosting here.

Nelson: we snuck in and listened to you and you continue to rock.

Shapeshifter and Sinister: I didn't hear nearly enough of your set to leave happily. You guys are awesome. And I'm a househead. So that means you're super awesome.

Due to some craziness that I had going on I missed Nautikat unfortunately. I had really been anticipating her set and was disappointed that I didn't catch it. I'll be back in Columbus though sometime and won't make that mistake twice! I was really nice meeting her though.

Thanks to all who showed love on this thread and previous. I love you guys. You are my heart and soul. I can't wait till we boogie again.

SMOOCH!

All hair praise is due to my boyfriend. He cuts it, dyes it and styles it.

And that's even funnier if you know him.

Thanks whirlpool!
:D :) =D

I want to give a big thanks to Mike for letting Dave Davis & I pull a little tag set earlier in the day. We had a little technical confusion (not quite difficulty) at first, but had a great time playing otherwise. Unfortunately I got poison ivy on both of my arms a few days prior which made things a bit difficult for me, but it was still fun. :) Dunno if anyone here checked us out, as it was earlier on, and people were coming/going in the Fresh Room all night. ah well... hehe...

My personal favorite experiences of the night were hearing Grayarea, who i'd never heard before, and watching/listening to Mayhem & Lyman rip it up in the lounge. I was impressed with Mayhem, as I've never heard him play such funky tracks before, and Lyman is always a crowd pleaser when he gets bouncin' around in DA ZONE. Anyone who missed out on them definitely should check them out this coming Friday.

Unfortunately I left early once I heard that H-Foundation weren't coming, and my bandaged messy poison ivy arms were getting to be too much for me to bear.

Can't wait for the next big event at the Factory.... keepin' the scene alive & kickin'. :)

later,
walker
