I recently came across something that tastes and smells like normal pill, but it takes a few seconds longer (5-10) and goes more purple than black.. It does not have the effects of MDMA, so I was thinking this could be sassafras? Any comments or experiences would be appreciated..

Are you very sure it is purple ? Not pink ? What kind of testkit did you use ??
Could you describe the pill, color, stamp etc.

this brings up something i had heard for the first time the other nite while snorting a pill witha buddy of mine. He sniffed it up and was like, "yup sassafrass, its susposed to smell like sassafrass..." I had never heard of that correlation between sass and E ...
um anyway.. i had never known that mdma should smell like that

As mentioned elsewhere, Sassafrass oil is often used to make MDMA. It contains about 80% Saffrole, which is converted to MDMA through a couple of reactions. You can have some unconverted Sassafrass Oil in the final product, which gives you the smell and taste. It's quite distinctive.
Saffrole, and Sassafrass oil, may well give you a purple to black colour when tested with Marquis reagent. Haven't tried it, but suspect it to be the case. They are very similar to MDMA, especially the methylenedioxy rings which is where the main colour reactions occur with Marquis reagent.
You should try and test the pill with E2. I doubt it would be fooled by Sassafrass oil or Saffrole. Contact us for a sample tester.

Ok so im thick but what the hell is sassfras? Ive never herd of it before. is it a recreational drug? just wondering!!

Jesus where have you been all these years
Sassafras is a tree that grows all over the place eg: US,Brazil,Australia,China and various other parts of SE Asia its root bark is used to extract the essential oil of sassafras which contains Safrole, safrole is the main precursor to MDxx drugs. Sassafras is also used for other purposes such as flavouring root beer, perfumes, denaturing soaps etc As far as recreation is concerned you dont want to go drinking sassafras oil cause its toxic.

AJ,
This thread should be closed...If not deleted. You know why!

safrole DOES turn purple. so sassafras oil, as someone correctly said, would also turn purple. but more likely there is some safrole that hasn't been chemically converted left on the outside of the pill.

100% pure essential sassafrass oil does NOT go purple.Nobody here obviously has tested it.

bitch1 - i HAVE tested essential sassafras oil. clearly, YOU haven't.
GRRR. don't fuck with a chemist.

I have tested sassafrass oil with conc (98%) sulphuric acid (the main constituent of a tester) it turns red/purple and polymerizes
(MD ring cleavage)
I agree ..dont fuck with a chemist.

ignore bitch, it was misguided protectiveness on their part, hoping that less scrupolous people wouldnt find out this fact and use it to create fake pills.
but of course any lies can be quickly seen thru, so any attempt on our part to mislead is counter productive.
in the words of me ferris: keep it real.
