I am having bad side effects like restlessness, just wondering if these side effects may go away, I'm on week 3 of it. I tried benztropine and it had no effect on me.

It is one of the more common side effects. Lowering the dose or changing the drug may be the best option but talk to your doctor.

If it truly is the side effect called akathisia, without lowering the dose, changing drugs, or adding other drugs to treat the side effect, it probably will not resolve. DO NOT STOP YOUR MED WITHOUT TALKING TO YOUR DOCTOR. Give them a call and discuss.

You don't think it will go away? SOme people say that side effects are just your body adjusting and that they should go away. I had an increased apetitie the first 3 weeks but it went away.

I'm having akathasia and it started my 2nd week on Saprhis, then I just stopped taking my luvox suddenly and now I'm having it even worse. My PDOC thinks it's the fluvoxamine doing it, but I was just in there the other day and told him I was having it from the Saphris. What do I need to do? I have a hard time communicating with him, he's 80 years old.

Abrupt discontinuation of SSRIs can make you feel pretty agitated. I do not know your history and it is in your best interests to talk to someone who does and can help. If the Saphris is the only thing that works for your primary condition, there are some treatments for akathisia. You have already tried benztropine. Propranolol and benzodiazepines have some success, but a doctor needs to rule everything else out first. I hope you find relief.

What do you suggest I do? The saphris has made me really groggy and absentminded and feeling drowsy, I'm on week 4 of it, will this side effect go away or should I call my PDOC?

Call your doctor. Tell them what you have said here. Ask why Saphris is the best choice and if there are other options. Be honest and specific.

yea that sucks dude i hate having to take somthing that makes u feel like shit. Talk to the doc dude you shouldnt have to feel that way. i hope u get releif .

Usually when I call him he says just allow it more time, that the medicine is just adjusting to your body, is this true?

Well that is a good start. But unless they are healthcare professionals they can only provide support. Valium is not without risks, so do not take unless you were instructed to do so by someone qualified. I know you said talking to your doctor is tough but he is the only one who can make a change. Is there a therapist/nurse/pharmacist that you can talk to who will try to be a go-between for you and the doctor?

No and now my legs are starting to hurt, is this a side effect that will go away? I had these side effects when I was on Fanapt and it went away, how long do u allow? This is week # 4 on Saphris.

Just wondering if these side effects will go away on their own the way they did with Fanapt?
