i currently have these growing for gardening purposes. dont they look preetty and stuff :)

^ They look quite nice all that is missing is a bit of tumbleweed rolling past!

I know you also meant it jokingly but I'm starting to develop a reverence for cacti, I really do think they're beautiful. I even feel a bit guilty about cutting a branch or two off this huge cactus that seriously won't be bothered by it.

I have a question, and I'm having trouble finding info anywhere... I won't be using mescaline for another five or six weeks at any rate, because first I have my 2c-b trip coming up and I like to leave a good space between trips, for psychonautical discipline. So the thing is, I'm not sure whether to cut now, or wait until the day before the trip. I called someone yesterday who says that you should leave the cutting in a dark space for about a month before cooking it, because this will potentiate the mescaline. This sounds like an urban legend to me. On the other hand, he's cultivated cacti before, so he's supposed to know what he's talking about.

Should I cut now, or wait?

i'm pretty sure i fucked up a cutting by keeping it in a dark place for a couple of months.
it might have been weak to start with...but i'm pretty sure it actually lost potency. hard to be sure, but definitely take that advice with a grain of salt.
there are plenty of opposing viewpoints i've read - it does sound like an urban myth though, doesn't it?
it presupposes that mescaline is produced by the cactus as a defence against predators...which i don't really believe. it seems a little simplistic.

Those are my thoughts. I'm going to play it safe and cut on the day of cooking it. Thanks for your advice.
