its the girlfriends birthday at the end of this month and im thinking of planning on dinner in SF since its a short drive from me.

what are some good places to dine :). I want it to be an experience, you know something she will remeber, with out breaking my wallet. any suggestions?

oh and she loves sushi but it doesnt have to be limited to that since we eat sushi all the time. - thanks BL

how much money would break your wallet? what is the general range of your budget for the day?

I wouldnt want to spend more than 50 total for the dinner. its new semester time and I gotta buy books :p

^ pretty much. i wouldn't recommend san francisco if you want a memorable dinner experience for $50. instead you could make the actual drive down and sightseeing and enjoying each other's company the memorable part - maybe pack a nice picnic and eat outside on the water somewhere along the coast. it's really rainy here right now though and i'm not sure how much it will dry up by the end of the month.

you could also do something like walk through the haight, check out the shops, grab some pizza slices and chill out in golden gate park. maybe smoke a joint and check out the local weirdos. you could do something similar in the mission district - cruise around together, peep some murals, and get burritos. it doesn't make much difference. $50 isn't going to buy two people anything special for dinner in san francisco, so you'll need to build the coolness factor around the visit itself rather than the meal.

^ so True, there is only somuch to do for 50 bucks in the bay. But that doesnt mean you ant have some fun. Take her to the coit tower to see the town, walking around is a blast just watch out for the tenderloin. China town is always fun and exciting too though. I think the idea of walking the haight or little italy would be a great idea and go to Mars pastrie's they are unbelievable.

Go hang out on hippy hill and watch the crazy people, then hop a bus and go to ocean beach. Hit up the russian bakeries and have some piroshkis, cheap and delicious. There is so much to do in the city if you keep an open mind, on the cheap too.

If you have that much money...don't look at it as a "dinner". Nope, it's an adventure, which is even better. Who cares what you'll eat? Take her around to see the sights. Run around on the beach. Look for shooting stars. Stop at some free art gallery somewhere.

**The goal is to have fun. You have fun with her, she'll remember it more than any dinner you buy her.**

And when it comes to food:
Find a hole in the wall restaurant that cooks food you're interested in and eat there. There are PLENTY in SF. You'll be full, and it won't be too much on your wallet ;) heck, it might be a fanfuckingtastic meal! I've had many great hole in the wall meals in the City.

When I visited a few years ago I ate sushi at the Japanese district. It was very reasonably priced. I spent about $40 for 2 people for a good dinner. I'm sure there are restaurants which are super expensive but they also have ones that are very reasonably priced. Look around. Maybe check it out urself first before the trip so u can plan it out better.

Go down by fisherman's warf there are a couple restaurants right near the water in this little shopping area outside where people like mime and play music on the street. I don't remember the name of the one i went to but i took a gf to a place on the 2nd level of that complex that overlooks the water and it wasn't to pricey. There is also a Hard Rock Cafe and a couple other restaurants in there as well.

There is Mcdonalds and Hooters kind of close by on the other side of the street just if you want to go really cheap.
