Social sample library and beat workshop; learning music production

Hello 911 🤳☎️

I would like to report a Banger in progress ‼️❌🚨😡

Someone call George Clinton cuz it's gettin funky

A# Minor 160bpm

Next project is to turn this into a banger dubstep or jungle track:

It's one of my favorite songs

This one seems to be coming along ok.

Although it sort of feels a bit empty for some reason. I don't think adding any more percussion or melodic elements would really do it justice and it would probably just become messy. I am wanting to write a couple lyrics, and try to find a way to add some vocals in a tasteful manner. But, I do think I'm starting to come along a bit stylistically as far as hitting a niche kind of approach or style that I have fun writing. These kinds of uptempo tracks, composed of some rearranged drum breaks, keys or other primary melodic instrument, with a mid + sub bass, and throwing that crazy foghorn or other impact type of sound on top, it seems like it could be a winning recipe if I refine it a bit further.

I think I just like making these kinds of songs. They're not happy necessarily, but they're not like sad or dark either, which is a stark departure from the songs I've written most of my life.

I enrolled in a pretty comprehensive music course and learning platform, and have gained access to entire courses with quality learning material, as well as a community of other producers, and solid instructors that I can bounce ideas off of.

I'm really excited about it. It's going well so far and I've already learned a lot. It feels like this is really the only thing in my life that has ever brought me any kind of pure joy. I may not be great at music, but to me, it's more than just a casual hobby. So I think I owe it to myself to approach it as a serious pursuit and exhaust all avenues of learning and growth, and I'm happy to say that I am making progress with that.

I have added a ton more packs of samples, Serum synth presets, and a lot of .PDFs of music production guides and tips. They are hosted on a Google Drive, which I have linked on my Discord.

Here, I'll refresh the link:

Anyone is welcome, all I will say is that it's got nothing to do with bluelight and so I don't wanna talk about bluelight there. But if you have any interest in music I'd love to have you.

Deficit thank you for posting this. I have had a major life event, unexpected death of a significant other due to Covid but it literally manifested itself in all kinds of destructive dangerous behaviors addiction related hell yeah and I am still dealing with it but one of the best ways to deal with such raw emotion is to create song. I have written a lot of lyrics and poems and I have been hearing from some close friends that they are pretty damn good some of them I might want to turn into raps with beats but I’m not even sure if I would be the best person to voice / sing it even though they are my words. You have any interest in possibly teaming up or giving me your assessment on my work? This goes for anyone but I feel hesitant to just post the lyrics since I really took the time to write them well.

Hey dude, sorry I had not checked into the thread in a minute so I missed this.

I would love to hear the material you have though, and I fully understand it can be hard to find your voice. Trust that I'm not an amazing singer myself, so I can't judge on that, the important thing is the thought and emotions put into the music. I'd love to help you come up with something cool, and if you have any ideas or need any advice on getting your ideas on record, definitely let me know. Please feel free to reach out anytime, here or on Discord.

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss though, that's an incredibly difficult thing to go through, and I've had a similar loss recently, so I can certainly relate to that.

Don't tell Lars Ulrich, but this is a good app you can download on pc for finding good music you might like to keep for yourself 😎🍒

Don't know if this would help, but my respect for this guy's music is well documented in my posts in the various music threads on BL.

Here is a link to his website where he might answer a few questions you might have or just be an interesting perspective to observe.

Saw these a while ago, but only saw this thread now.

The relevance from my side is that he is using the same software I was messing around with back in the day (obviously updated and better hardware etc), but the software is the same.

He is making beautiful music.

In fact the 2nd video in the link below is showing us how he is making his basslines and other sounds to release a masterpiece that I will link at the bottom of this post. If you listen to the tune first (the youtube song at bottom) and then watch his very short and informative "tutorials" (only 3 of them) on how he did some of it, then it will make this post worthwhile.

Check it out.

Damn, that is a pretty killer tune, dude is definitely making original and beautiful music for sure. He seems like a cool guy too. Awesome to see successful FL studio users too. I've tried messing with Ableton, but, it really just didn't stick, didn't feel right, so gonna stick with that one.

Thanks for sharing, definitely helps, I watch a lot of these kinds of tutorials. Oftentimes the best ones are from successful artists like this though. They have a way of just cutting through the technical bullshit and pithy advertisements like a lot of the YouTubers do, and are able to explain difficult concepts in a way that is immediately applicable for making great music.
