Hi there

I hope this is the right place for this Q.

Is "2-Methylamino-1-phenylpropan-1-one" the same material as "2-Methylamino-1-p-methylphenylpropan-1-one" with another name or is it two completely different materials?

I have searched and searched with no results.

Hoping for a quick reply... (thanx in advance!)

Mephedrone has stronger serotonin-releasing properties and is slightly more dangerous in overdose. But as Murphy said, pretty much the same.

thank you for a quick and clear reply!

Thats odd, i know mephedrone by the name of 2-Methylamino-1-p-totylpropan-1-one... but I guess it has many names

As far as I can see 2-Methylamino-1-p-methylphenylpropan-1-one is the same thing as 2-Methylamino-1-p-totylpropan-1-one. I guess both names are correct. However I would stick to the first one.

@ Iodjini_dk
thnx for the pm, i dont have 20 post yet in here (total newb hehe) so i cant answer it yet 8) ... But, if "et skilt med "bang" på hatten" by the windbird-camp @ tshitraka 2008 meen anything to you. Then the answer to your question is yes... I´m him =D

The correct spelling is "p-Tolyl"! This term describes a toluene-residue, the "p" means "para", i.e. the branching is in exactly the opposite position of toluene's methyl group. So, both names (p-tolyl & p-methylphenyl) describe indeed the same thing.

Mephedrone has a far greater safety and addiction profile than methcathinone.

Please expand? Wungchow and Ham don't seem to share your opinion Madge. What info do you have?

Ill write a full detailed review, but it hit the UK scene hard, I'm talking upwards of 10kg's going a week, so far no hospitalisations, reports of ambulances caused or fatalities, and these things are hit the news straight away, I've never tried Methcat, but Dimethcat which should in theory have a better safety profile is really damaging in comparison to mephedrone.

That's not true Madge. There have been hospitalisations, and I'm sure I've read that it's been implicated in a death (but of course unless we get to see the toxicology report how can we be sure?).

Anecdotal evidence saying "as far as I know no one's died" means fuck all.

I haven't read of any, and the death you read about was mireported and was a classic case of 4-MTA mediated Serotonin syndrome. Let me just say I am heavily involved in the scene, I have seen enormous quantities been taken, and it is not as damaging or depleting as Methcat.

Apart from that there are some glaringly obvious SAR traits that reveal the same to be true.

I will post more later when I am not feverish as hell.

I am sick of blanket report statements that don't correlate to the sheer amount of reports of this stuff, go through 10 doses of it and 10 doses of methcat, and see which one creates psychosis and MA depletion, and which one doesn't.

There are a few worrying things about 4-MMC though, I am not saying it's safe, but it is a lot lot safer than methcat.

But Madge, you and your buddies taking 'enormous' ammounts of a substance and feeling fine means nothing. You can stand in the middle of the road and not get hit by a car, that doesn't mean it's not a dangerous place to stand.

I'm not suggesting that this is some super toxic horror drug, just don't see where you're drawing your conclusions. What SAR info do you have?

As for going through 10 doses of each... I'll leave that to you my fiending friend!

You can bet your ass it's more neurotoxic as well if you consider the SAR. Amp to methamp, methcat to this.

more serotonergic generally equals more neurotoxic.

There is absolutely zero evidence that this stuff is safer. There's nothing in any SAR study that says it's less addicting, and AFAIK, neither rodent or primate studies have been conducted. The volume of what's being consumed tends toward an addictive potential, and that may be less than mcat- but it's not likely.

It may be safer, but you don't have any evidence of that.

It isn't me or my buddies, it's thousands upon thousands of doses going through the UK every day. One vendor was stupidy selling 3000 200mg capsules a day, another would get through a kilo a week, an eu vendor gets through twice that, do you not think if it was as toxic as MC it would have been on the radar long long ago?

In Denmark a young male died after ingestion of 4-MMC. No authopsy was made, but his friends said that he had been ingesting 4-MMC. Also, he was in posession of the drug when he was hospitalized. Personally I know of several people who have been hospitalized after ingestion of 4-MMC. However my statements are as valid/indvalid as Madge's. Indeed no one really knows how harmful 4-MMC is.

Cathinones may be more dopaminergic (I'll have to take your word for that) but we're comparing Methcathinone with 4MMCat, so I don't see your point just yet.

The Denmark case was 4-MTA, do some research about it, it was classic Serotonin syndrome.
