i have only smoked one bowl of salvia, but it was in a pipe and i only had a normal lighter.
all i got was a slight edgy feeling that felt scarey and made me think i dont want to go there
wherever there is so have been really wary of trying it again.
It CAN be horrifying (it was for me), but I've also heard very credible people explain salvia as the most positively life-changing experience they've had on psychedelics. So it's a risk/reward sort of thing. You really want a sitter though.
but what im wandering is is it similar to ket when you do get there
Nope. Not at all. On ket, you're knocked out and everything that's happening is in your head (at least for me). It's a tranquilizer, after all. But on a breakthrough salvia trip? YOU are there, as you put it, "wherever
there is." Not your mind, but YOU. You walk around your room, bang into things, break lamps, whatever, fully acting out the experience, fully oblivious to the real world.
Keep in mind this is a first-time salvia user posting in the wake of a mind-destroying breakthrough nightmare trip from hell. I think it was because I did WAAAAAY too much, but I bet breaking a lamp and plunging my room into sudden darkness did not help.
So, use a torch lighter, a nice smoke-cooling bong, and ONE hit of 0.1g standardized 10x salvia extract. Do NOT go two hits with a torch lighter + smoke cooler; I really think that's what made the difference, and some post-research I've done supports this. You vaporize more active compound, are able to take in MUCH more, and for MUCH longer. If you're using a pipe or a more conventional bong that forces you to cough, or a bic lighter, then yeah, you might need a double-hitter, but good Lord have a sitter just in case
You know how you hear stories about people jumping out windows on acid/shrooms and you're all "wtf, I never thought I could fly even on my hardest trips"? A salvia breakthrough can transport you fully and entirely to another world, completely obliterating any capacity for rational thought of any kind in the process. And if that world is scary, with only a single door to escape through... well, all I'm saying is that door better not be the window of your sixth floor apartment
I've found conflicting reports on whether a smaller dose (smaller than breatkthrough point) has any kind of interest. Seems like some people find that difficult where as some others report a different but good experience. What do you think?
I think that a salvia breakthrough is what you should aim for: That is, after all, the point of it. I read that starting off too low does little more than create apprehension for trying a higher dose. If you have a sitter, you'll be fine (and even the most harrowing salvia trips only last a few minutes).
I'm also interested in any similarities with LSA.
I'm not familiar with LSA... if it's similar to LSD, then no, nothing like LSD (well, maybe a mega-dose, but nothing close to what I've tried). On any other psychedelic, I was at least vaguely aware of where I was, and able to stay lying down.
Any ideas on what you consider a good sitter to be for a salvia trip would also be appreciated!
You want one person,
maybe two, who you trust and who can be trusted to REMAIN QUIET unless you need reassurance. They shouldn't touch you unless necessary, which could well be the case if you start wandering around in an aimless fugue. Watch any YouTube video of a salvia trip for tips on what sitters should NOT do. I'm
tempted to say that you want someone capable of restraining you if necessary, but I think you're actually fairly uncoordinated and easy to maneuver even if you are freaking out. (More experienced psychonauts can correct me if I'm wrong here; but regardless, two people should be able to handle you unless you're a brick shithouse.)
The good thing about salvia-sitting is that you can take turns, since each trip only lasts 15-20 mins. (Afterwards? Several hours of group therapy

)
