Hi there
I got hold of some salvia dried leaves to see if it would open some doors for me - and it did, so I thought I would share it with you.

Description:
Location: Bedroom
Time: Approx 11pm
Number of observers: None
Salvia type: Dried Leaves
Method: Water Bong
Ambience: Silence
Seating Position: Lying on bed(face up) with eyes closed

Approach:
I took several hits that evening after each 'coming back to reality'. I cannot say how long each one lasted for, but I would approximate around 10 minutes duration in each. What follows is my attempt at trying to convey what I experienced in general, rather than any one experience.

Outcome:
Although I could visualise non-sepcific surroundings with my eyes closed, I clearly knew that I was not looking through my own eyes, but rather just seeing things from a particular point in space as an observer.
My perception of dimensions and spatial awareness changed greatly. No longer could I see/visualise in simple 3 dimensional terms, and by that I mean a simple x,y,z type configuration.

The best way for me to try and convey how things appeared was is if you could imagine our 3D dimensions being mapped onto a curved surface (like that of a sphere). Depending on the direction that my gaze would take me, my perspective would change. Where things once looked like being on the outer edge of a sphere's surface, it would now seem to be curved in a way that made it look like it was now on the inside of a surface. By trying to move the direction of my gaze, my surrounding would twist and turn in such a way that made it seem that the fabric of space was flexible, rather than being hard and rigid like we think it is.

Often I would try and look down from my observation point, but it would simply make my surroundings move away from me in a curved way (as if on the inside of a sphere).
To clarify your understanding of the sphere; the sphere is not visible, it simply is how the curvature of my surroundings would appear to me.

I also clearly remember me thinking of two important things at one point. So important that I knew I had to write it down before I forgot it. So I obviously had regained self-awareness at this point. I wrote down two sentences.

1. football shaped dimension (sphere)
2. corkscrew through time

Although it is clear what the first statement is referring to, I do not understand what I was trying to convey with the second. Obviously meant something to me at the time. I did a search on google in case others have thought the same thing, but have not come up with anything.

It is very hard for me to convey my feelings on this to you all. Reading through my transcript here, I know must seem rather vague and aloof, and I know much will be lost in translation.

I went into this experience to hopefully learn something, rather than just 'getting high'. I am unsure what I have learned, but I certainly can't stop thinking about it. I wonder if it means anything at all.

If any of you have had similar experiences or what I have said has struck a chord, please do share. I would like to know more.

Salvia always intrigues me, I'd love to try it, but I don't know whether it would be too much for me.

From what I've been told, it’s hard to compare the two, but in your opinion, how does Salvia rate in intensity and/or similarity to DMT?

As intense and overwhelming as DMT is, I've always find it incredibly inviting and peaceful - never scary. Is Salvia like this?

Cool trip report too. Don't mean to hijack your thread, just curious.

I've tried several extractions of salvia, and i've also done DMT a few times, so i'll try to compare them how i saw it..

DMT and salvia definately share some distinct similarities, but they also differ in some ways that can change the whole way you look at the experiance. In my experiances with DMT, I always notice in lower doses that my perception is pulled back, in a way, from normal perception. To fill this gap where i normally see the world; vivid geometric shapes and beautiful colors appear on an infinate plane. I end up seeing two different worlds, in a sense. In front of the real world i see an entirely different plane of perception. I found that the higher the dose of DMT, the more powerful this new plane of perception became, and in my best trips this level of perception surrounds me and it is almost like living in another world, although you may still catch a glimpse of reality here and there...DMT is also naturally released as a chemical in your brain during sleep, so its not too hard to remind yourself of the feeling if you've ever woken up in the middle of your sleep before.

Salvia, depending on the level of extract, is quite similar to DMT. From my experience, salvia and DMT share the feature where you are put back from reality to make room for a new field of perception. the dose and extract level are quite influential factors over how intense your experience may be. A few of my friends who arent very knowledgeable in this topic have tried salvia recreation-ally, and really hated it and claimed it was the scariest thing they've ever seen. In most cases the salvia trip tends to become "scary" for someone when they feel they can't handle the experiance and begin to panic. And as i said before, the intensity of the trip depends on the dosage. One particular experience i had with 10x salvia sticks out in my mind. I used to have a 2 1/2 foot tall bong (it was stolen unfortunately :( ) with a rather large bowl. I packed the bowl to the top and took the biggest hit i possibly could. I immediately began tripping, which is very similar to DMT; both of their trips begin upon inhalation. I find that DMT progresses more slowly into the trip, while salvia goes fairly faster, which may make it scary for some people if they are unprepared. If done right, salvia will provide a very intense experience. As i continued to inhale, i started to lose touch with reality. I slowly began to drift into a world where i was no longer aware of my surroundings, and a totally new setting appeared. In this experience, the world that formed around me was like a cartoon show setting. Colors were very bright, yet monotone. While i was lost in the experience, i was laughing hysterically, and i mean hilarious, and for a good portion of the trip i had no idea that i was even laughing. I had also fallen off the chair i was sitting on, so it was a very good thing i had a friend with me to catch the bong from falling! Several minutes later i was pulled out of my different world and dropped back into reality, where i found myself on the ground laughing. There was a mild afterglow, similar to that of DMT.

One thing to keep in mind that makes salvia different from DMT is the different kinds of perception you experience in each one. Salvia literally pulls you out of reality and drops you in a very exiting, VERY intense dream world. Then you will be dropped back into reality, as if dropping back down to earth by parachute (thats how I felt at least). DMT i found was more of an overlap of reality and a new level of perception. I experienced a mixture of what was around me, and what my mind was producing, which produced a very relaxed, yet intense experiance.

I would encourage you to try salvia, but just be sure you are ready to handle wherever it may take you, because you may start to panic if you feel uncomfortable. If this is a problem for you, just try and stay optimistic and go with the flow. If you grasp the salvia trip right, you will not regret it!

Hope i helped! Great review on the 5x by the way, i noticed a lot of those things in common about the dimensional properties when i did the 5x myself. You really get a new perspective of the world around you.

1. football shaped dimension (sphere)
2. corkscrew through time

Although it is clear what the first statement is referring to, I do not understand what I was trying to convey with the second.

Maybe the idea is referring to a principle of time/space in which a point on a particular object transcends dimensions, only experiencing one thing, when in fact it has traveled through many dimensions? Kind of like how individuals on Earth see only a small portion of the universe at any given time?

If that's the case, then to have seen the principle in action makes salvia d. a great tool. I could be wrong.

Every time I have taken salvia, I felt like I was transcending dimensions. Not just spiritual/mental/emotional places, but physical realities as well.

For me, it's like a book opening up. Like reality was this book, and once I took salvia, the covers opened and the pages spread out. Or, it has been like there was this "other" dimension all this time, intersecting ours at a 90-degree angle.

And then another time, I saw my emotional/spiritual levels all at once. You know how you felt as a child? As an adult? As an outsider, as a friend? I saw them all at once and it was like a rainbow.

Salvia is an important plant. Too important to take lightly.

I call it the "seriously funny" drug :)

Thanks for the insight Big_Duck! Very much appreciated.

I feel I'm a bit of an anomaly when it comes to drugs - I regularly use (as often as I can find some) DMT, mushrooms, MDMA/MDEA, JWH-018, and even funky RCs like MDPV; all of these are great, and I've never had a negative experience. Weed on the other hand sends me to hell and back - terrible anxiety and an overwhelming dissociative confusion/paranoia...basically feel like I'm going to die!

Knowing I get 'the fear' from THC ('the harmless drug'), makes me second guess myself in relation to salvia. On the flip side, knowing I can handle 'hard drugs' like DMT leads me to believe I could enjoy Salvia.

^ That’s exactly what I thought! I put it down to getting watered down JWH-018, and pretty strong bud. If I continue to smoke JWH-018, say three cones in quick succession, I do get similar anxiety, but it seems to be more manageable.

So like I said, it raises doubts in my mind as to whether I'd be able to handle Salvia or not? I'm inclined to try everything at least twice (in case you fuck it up the first time)...so inevitably I will try some. Its just very difficult (..for me?) to source in Australia. DMT, on the other hand, is thankfully quite plentiful.

Is salvia illegal in Australia? I know here in the USA it's legal in some states. But you can also buy salvia online in different extract levels.

Salvia Divinorum was scheduled in 2002 in Australia (first country to ban it). I've seen plenty of extracts available online, and have run the gauntlet a few times with Australian Customs (importing other semi legal things), but there is a good chance it will be picked up - not necessarily because its a drug, but because it is easily flagged as plant material (..then later determined to be a drug).
