Once upon a time i smoked some salvia. it fucked my world up. bad. it really made me insane for awhile. it made it seem so strange that we were even here. I had a rough few months after that. i eventually got over it but ever since i've just hated tripping on anything.

should i face my fear and do salvia again?

I'd suggest you try another entheogen.

Many people have bad experiences with smoked Salvia divinorum.

See my "why you should NOT smoke Salvia divinorum thread" for more info.

Try Cactus or Ayahuasca or something.

no, you will probably be anxious and skeptical about experiencing a bad trip again, and as a result you'll probably have a bad one

My thoughts exactly. Different entheogens speak different things to different people. I personally find Salvia to be a very interesting entheogen, but I would hardly consider offering some to a beginner or someone uncomfortable with confronting its effects.

It is not a comforting substance of itself and it does have a strangeness to it that can be frightening. Where Salvia lacks in time-factor it makes up for tenfold in strangeness and intensity.

Definitely not for everyone.

I started with salvia and have since moved on to mushrooms, 2-ci, DOC, 4-AcO-MiPT, mescaline.

If I could do it over, I personally wouldn't change what I've done or in what order. For somebody else, however, I'd say that doing salvia when inexperienced is NOT a good idea. It could possibly instill in you an unnecessary fear of all other psychedelic substances. Or perhaps you shouldn't be touching anything psychedelic.

Try a low dose of LSD or mushrooms instead.

You should probably take a different psychedelic after you get over your fears of them. Salvia more consistently produces uncomfortable experiences compared to other psychedelics. I recommend AMT.

I think you should try a different psychedelic if you decide to trip at all. Salvia isn't for everyone, I think it's garbage but some people enjoy it.

Yeah, maybe go for some kind of LSD trip, maybe even a DMT trip. Salvia really can really turn frightening even to the most seasonal psychonauts, just something about it...

you're telling him to move from salvia to DMT... that's like moving from non-alcoholic beer to 151. not a good idea. (how is anybody starting with salvia going to source DMt anyway?)

Your analogy is flawed.

To answer your question, the same way anybody sources salvia in the first place.

This is horrible advice.

If you are a newbie or are uneasy and uncomfortable with psychedelics, steer clear of any entheogen that will produce mind/body shattering experiences like Salvia or DMT.

I recommend a relatively small dose of psilocybin mushrooms or a half-hit (75 - 100 ug) of decent LSD (that is of course after you have demonstrated that you can handle marijuana, or at least alcohol).

Peace.

Salvia seemed to help a schitzofrenic aquiantence of mine go off the deep end :S
I doubt that his condition had any bearing on his experience. I say this because the illness and drug act on entirely different regions and systems of the brain.

Many sane people go off the deep end with salvia. For 3 whole minutes, I was orange and simultaneously the cookie monster. So my friend told me anyway. Drooling and laughing like an idiot. If I wasn't worried about people hearing him, I'd've enjoyed it as much as he did.

Salvia and DMT are compleeeeeeeeeetly different. For starters, I see no harm in a low-dose DMT trip. My first was gentle, beautiful, and mind-opening. You don't have to "blast off" to have a legitimate experience.

Second, to the OP, you don't have to do salvia. Why force yourself to do something you don't want to do? If you want to trip, I recommend something smoother, like mescaline, or a light dose of DMT or shrooms. Or maybe a soooper light dose of salvia (being sure not to shatter your world).

Ya, try cactus or shrooms.

(how is anybody starting with salvia going to source DMt anyway?)

O source it from their local stretchy drug dealer of course!

How about growing it, dumbass?

I hate how everybody thinks you can't obtain psychoactives anywhere but the street. Try being self-sufficient.

Can you make due without calling people names, asshole?

Sure, the kind isn't smart enough to research Salvia himself, but he can "GROW" DMT on his own. You are totally worthless to this forum.

no, it isn't flawed.

I'd say it is flawed. Beer to 151 would be like saying Salvia leaves vs. 80x extract, that would be correct. But saliva & DMT are two totally different substances. DMT is intense yes, but doesn't carry the overwhelming sense of terror that salvia is notorious for if you've ever done the two. And the OP has a personal issue with salvia because of his experience on it, if he were to consume a different psychadelic that did not have the same stigma, he can go into it with a clearer, more confident mindset. I say DMT because it is short-lived, thus if he still is uncomfortable he doesn't have another 8 hours to ride out. Hear me?

PS: You're complaining about name calling & go on to call the poster an asshole while telling him he's worthless. Either sarcasm or stupidity.

I've had rough salvia experiences, but like with all psychedelics I think there's something valuable there for people to take advantage of.

Like others in this thread, I'd suggest becoming acquainted with other psychedelics and then when you feel ready, go back and give salvia another try.

I don't think any psychedelic should be feared. All they are are tools to opening up what's already inside you. Salvia can be a lot more scary and intense, but I still think it's a worthwhile chemical. I haven't done it yet, but one day I do plan on going back to salvia and trying more breakthrough experiences on it.

Whatever you do, just make sure you do it for the right reasons and that you're confident and comfortable with giving it another try. Don't force it or think that you have to sort of "conquer" salvia since it gave you such a rough go around the first time.
