[Salvia] Do I need a trip sitter?

Salvia--Should I have a sitter?

I haven't done anything in quite a long time . I last did Salvia a year or so ago. But, the last time I did it I did a "5 strength extract." I have a "50 strength extract" in my possession that has sat on my shelf for almost a year (bought it for a coworker and he said I could take some). I have the night off of work and feel like expanding my mind, so to speak. Plus I'm bored. I can't smoke pot since I'm trying for a new job and could have a drug test soon... I don't see how things could go bad, but things seem to go bad when I think that. I don't have anybody who could be a sitter--There is one person who said he would be a sitter, but our schedules do not match and I don't know if I totally trust him to keep the event quiet (he's not two-faced, just doesn't know when to shut up).

So, what do you think? Should I go for it, or wait 'til I can have a sitter, even though I don't quite trust him to keep it on the down low?

You dont need a sitter for salvia.

Also, if you dont trust your sitter that can make your trip worse. Especially if they're annoying.

^I will agree and disagree.
IME, you DO need a sitter for a salvia trip, but only a very close, trusted friend that won't, as said above, ruin your trip.
Even the most seasoned psychonauts have reported unpleasant salvia trips. The effects are completely unpredictable--and like marijuana, might not get you high the first few times you try it, making it even more unpredictable! Use caution, and utilize a TRUSTED sitter!!

My first time on salvia my trip sitter fucked with me the entire time, I'll never have someone do that again. It was hands down the worst experience of my life.

^obviously you had a dick of a mate. i always suggest a trip sitter for first time salvia users, someone you can trust and not have fuck you up.

anyway, over to PD

Thank you all for the replies. I'm sorry Suboxone that you had such a shitty sitter. Despite the possibility of a need for a sitter, I think I'm going to go for it... Gonna think about it long and hard while I clean this shithole I call a home.

If by sitter you mean a psychedelic veteran who is well versed in how to handle trip outs/paranoid behaviors then yes it is a good idea. It sounds weird, but I don't like for anyone to look at me while I'm salvia, so you might keep that in mind. Tell your trip sitter to be "present" but not "all up in your salvia space".

So, already took the trip and rather than make a new thread, I'll put it in here.

So weird that it's what happened one of the times... I'm not quite sober at the moment, but it's really weird to describe the effects, but it's being part of an immense circular system, being a piece of it and going throughout the entire thing. Like if a spiraling vortex was slowed down and was made of matter that was almost gummy but had some substance... Jell-o but not at all wiggly--You could walk on it, if you had a body. But it's all pieces of thoughts being strung along on this vortex and there's a common entity at the end, ....

And yeah, that ^^^ is nothing like my experience. I wish I could find the better words for what happened, and what has happened in the past when I have done salvia.

Haha I know exactly what you're talking about. Both times I did salvia I completely lost all contact with reality and were full blown psychedelic experiences. I've done 30x and 60x so I know your 50x fuuucked you up lol. I personally would like to have a spotter each time; on the 60x I forward rolled around the apartment somehow making my way through doorways, so I'd wanna make sure I didn't do anything stupid.

I wish I could somehow put into images my experience... it's always the same. I dunno, I did Salvia 5x probably half a dozen times. The first two times were with sitters. I feel like talking and nobody has to read this, so turn out now if you don't wanna listen. Anyways, the first two times were weird. The first time there were four people sitting. I took a hit and felt like I was traveling away on a multicolored fabric element and the four people I was with were off in the blackness, floating furthur from me. I was disconnected at the hips, floating on this fabric, and it was peaceful, with the feeling of a presence of a woman. Came back to reality wanting more. After two of the three left, the two of us wanted to trip again. So, he went then I. I was sitting on my bed and took the hit. Felt a floating sensation and was above my room looking down. Everything was made of a Jell-o-like substance, yet hard,... everything was in cubes behind me for I was a screen of sorts and I had to go through the matter in the room but I was hesitant as I didn't know what would happen to my friend. There was another being floating above me to the left and I asked him, "Do I have to?" My friend replied "To you have to what?" I locked eyes with him from above, felt a sinking feeling, and was instantly back in my body.

On a separate occasion I did Salvia a handful of times within a relatively short span of time. Didn't experience any of the effects I described above except for what I experienced in my trip tonight, with the feeling of being apart of this massive entity where we were all connected and everything was spiraling in, never ending... Another time I did Salvia that night, my desk melted into the floor... Was kinda cool to see wood grain melding into a puddle that blurred into the blackness of the carpet.

Now that I've relatively sober I cannot seem to get warm no matter what I do. And I'm just going to post this before I go to edit it and decide not to. Blah, no one wanted to hear this, did they? Did you?

I did.

I've never tried salvia, but from what it sounds like, you had a pleasantly crazy and mind-opening experience, which is always a good outcome. :)

I'm sure you'll be fine without one the trip is so short and intense it'll be done before you know it.

Yeah, the only time I had/saw poeple have experiences that necessitate sitters was when they smoked salvia when already drunk (very crazy, the person often gets up and stumbles around confusedly while they are having their experience... definitely not recreatonal)

-My sis smoked some one time, ran into the neighbors yard mumbling (we were already outside), came back to reality and walked back.

-I smoked some when i was drunk at college and ran outside (to me it felt like gravity pulled me out there) and then i came to "reality" and was very confused.

You're absolutely fine without a sitter. The most intense effects only last up to 3 minutes and you won't even be able to move for most of that time. Unless it's a really close friend who has tried Salvia before and understands how to be a good trip sitter, a sitter will most likely just be distracting and annoying.

Yes. Always have a sitter when it is possible be extremely disconnected from how your senses ordinarily operate but your body can still move.

a sitter could be a good idea if you're one of those people who might want to get up and walk around during the trip, which is not really a good idea. like others have said, just tell them to please be quiet during your trip. salvia has a voice of its own, and outside noises are annoying ime.

YOU NEED A SITTER.

I don't know how good your 50x extract is, but once I smoked a full bowl of 10x, got up and walked around, jumped up on the counter, walked around the counter, fell off the counter and almost hit my head on the corner of a tile wall. I don't remember any of this, and thank god I had a trip sitter with me at the time, or else I would have come to and been lying on the floor in pain, which would surely have made the rest of the trip and the day awful.

If you are smoking salvia which you've smoked before and know that a certain amount won't incapacitate you, then go for it.

Merged^

Basically I would get me a decent sitter i.e. one who is selfless and preferably one with personal experience. General tripping experience at least but knowing a
bit how to navigate is much better, then you can almost be a guide. The experience is extremely non-transferable and dissociated though.

I'd get me such a sitter for sure or strongly reconsider smoking Salvia. Theoretically you could ease into it with the right dose, but hitting the right mark with the dose is so difficult - I kid you not - that beginners shouldn't attempt Salvia trips that are potentially way past the mark. It is so unpredictable, that to be safe I urge you to follow these strict guidelines.
