Please note that parts of this have appreared in this report but I basically rewrote it and have choosen to post it here first.

The first thing I have to say about this entheogen is something about smoking it just doesn’t feel right to me. In addition, the Mazatec shamans of Mexico frown heavily on the smoking of this material. They really feel that ska Maria Pastora does not liked to be consumed that way, and smoking is not the proper way to consume this entheogen. I for the most part agree with their feelings. Now for the report…

As far as my experiences with smoked Salvia divinorum…it is an incredible experience, quite beyond words. My dozen or so experiences with this plant were very strange, interesting, bazaar, and really quite beyond description. Like a carnival or circus. A wild, crazy, weird, and insane event to behold. To a degree, there is a particular theme that is often repeated in each experience. Kind of as though the SAME exact experience happens every time I use it. As if it were a sequence of events in a story you are reading.

I found taking Salvia divinorum worked the best when I consumed it alone and in darkness to avoid any disturbances. Complete silence is preferred, but I have also tried some quiet non-intrusive ambient background music in a pair of headphones and had positive results. It seemed even incidental background noise was heavily intrusive to the experience and made it very difficult to let go.

Salvia divinorum gives me the experience of watching my ego roll by, as if it were on a newspaper printing press. I will see all of the little aspects of my personality speed by me. In a sense, it shows me the ultimate truth. Everything in my life and the universe in general, is presented to me with complete clarity.
The trouble is I usually do not realize I am tripping, and I tend to feel as though my head has been split open for the entire world to analyze. It is not a pleasant experience. I find the sheer intensity and occasional tendency for me to forget that I had even consumed a psychoactive substance (Salvia divinorum will cause ego-loss at full dosages) to be a negative aspect. I do not connect the Divinorum dimension as the result of the Salvinorin A in my blood. Furthermore, I experienced some amnesia at higher dosages. There were many times I could recall only about half of what had just happened.

It was at times a true ego-confronting experience. The spirit of the plant showed me aspects about myself that I had before refused to really acknowledge or accept. There are sometimes entities there, the "Salvia" people, and they are able to see everything about me. This can be a very uncomfortable experience. Before the Salvia divinorum experience I had never before traveled to or experienced other dimensions beyond this 'normal' one, nor had I ever interacted with entities. That is one thing I am grateful that the plant showed me…that my existence goes way beyond my reality and myself.

But I do find smoking Salvia divinorum to be of limited potential and value after the first few tries. There are lessons to learn, but in my experience after those first few trips, there isn’t much more to gain. For me, those last few experiences I had showed me nothing new than the initial ones.

It has been several years since I've tried Salvia divinorum but if I ever do go back I will try the more 'authentic' method, which is to chew a quid of the fresh or re-hydrated leaf. This manor of consumption is much gentler in action and lasts longer allowing for a more lucid experience. In addition, it is easier to integrate and remember the experience because it doesn’t just hit you and all take place within less than seven minutes.

I must also say that Salvia divinorum used in combination with a proper psychedelic goes beyond just being trip, but that is for a different trip report.

BRILLIANT. I couldn't ever figure out wtf was going on, but this makes perfect sense. It all just kinda rolls off the printing press...headlines and all. Every aspect of my personality, pieces of my father, things I'm afraid of, things i'm afraid of... It all flies by a little bit too quickly, and it's all a little bit too frightening. Occasionally one of the headlines catches my mind's eye and something inside of me decides to read the full story. That's when it can become more than a little bit too frightening...

Hmm..another metaphor that might work: Analog vs. Digital thought.... Tape vs. CD... Salvia seems to switch my brain into analog mode.

I can pretty much relate to everything else you mentioned in the report, as well. Not realizing I'm tripping, same exact experience...etc...etc..
