Hi,
Anyone else tried using beta hydroxy cyclodextrin to make salvanorin A work by the buccal route? I've had people it worked fine for, people it didn't work for at all. It's hard for me to tell, since salvia does nada for me, even x20 extract. When all around are are falling on their backs, I'm sitting there wondering what the buzz is...

You just have to accept you're a misfit. ;)

No, I haven't tried. I haven't tried salvia at all, seems too scary.

I just did a small review of current buccal delivery technologies for insulin. The key is emulsifying agents and other things that open up the tight junctions between epithelial cells. I've never heard of cyclodextrin but it sounds like an interesting idea. There are obviously differences between a peptide and small molecule, but, if you're brave, things like soap or other detergents (you could obviously be creative with this to avoid straight dish soap) or DMSO or, probably the best bet, some strong alcohol held in your mouth with the extract.
At any rate there are lots of reviews and patents out there for small molecule buccal delivery for things like fentenyl, etc.
good luck

Cyclodextrin gets used in food products, so it has the safety factor nailed. If it's just down to forming micelles then there are hundreds of things to choose from (even reconstituted milk). I did have the idea of using milk for rectal delivery of fat soluble drugs, but never tried it with salvinorin A, only THC/cannabinoids
