salt and hydrocloric acid...no go

I've made gas generators before....but now I'm confused.
I recently moved and I'm having a hard time finding strong muriatic acid.
I found some Ro-Tyme muriatic and Ro tyme filter cleaner ( contains muriatic..no msds) but when I combine it with non iodized salt....I get no reaction. The muriatic acid is 35.45% ( or around there ). The stuff i used before was from an industrial pool supply house and was much stronger.

I am even having a hard time gettin rid of the oil layer when doing an a/b extraction.
The problem with the ab extract and generating gas leads me to believe my problem might be weak muriatic acid.

Should I just evaporate the Ro Tyme muriatic acid to make it stronger....or should this acid be working fine as is?

Really would like some help.

You have it wrong, muriatic reacts with aluminum foil to generate gas. It's sulfuric acid (liquid fire) that reacts with salt.

thing is....i actually have a bottle of industrial strength drain opener that contains sulfuric.....
its some kinda stuff called Zonk. Even with using that, I'm geting some gas...but not like before.
Also I still have freeebase between the acid and toluene layers in my ab extract.

Any and all advice appreciated

Maybe the sulphuric content isn't high enough. I always used the "liquid fire" brand with good results. And this is probably to close to synth talk to be allowed.
