Safety of Oxy and Vyvanse (d-amp)?

I know what the pharmacist(s) have said, and what my psychopharmacolgist has said.... but is it really that safe to combine moderate doses of a stimulant (in my current case, Vyvanse 60mg), and then also a recreational dose of Oxy anywhere from 30-60mg (insufflated, over the course of a couple hours)?

I usually would say I have a pretty high tolerance to Amps... but today my head feels really "weird" from the vyvanse. I need to start taking it regularly at the dose my psych wants me to take it at steadily..

And I have a moderate tolerance to Oxy.... seeing as I can blow a full 30mg blue or Roxi and feel great/no problems. I think I only have a half left (15mg) anyways.

I also have been on benzos for a long time and have a real high tolerance unfortunately. But I have cut down over the last year to just 3mg of Klonapin a day luckily.

Just so strange cause yesterday when I took my vyvanse (90mg, so 30 more than perscribed.. I know, I know.. gona keep it steady from now on) - I felt great and focused etc etc for hours and hours.

Now this morning from just taking 60mg I have felt very "bad". I am trying to further reduce my use of kpin/benzos as prescribed, but I found myself popping 2mg quickly , earlier when I felt this sudden wave of bad feelings come on. Most likely anxiety/panic? But who can be sure.

Now it mostly my head.. it just feels a bit disoriented.. enough to concern me i guess and make me slightly more anxious. And my head felt "hot" or at least slightly overheated even though my gf insists that it doesn't feel that way.

Since it's now hours later since I took the 60mg dose... I am thinking that I might just feel all good again and better if I blow the remaining small bit of Oxy?

Or does that have the possibility to make things worse?

If not I am just going to take another kpin and lie down. I know im all over the place here but I admit, in a really strange, unpredictable way - I can be very sensitive to things and get super anxious or what I hope is causing this feeling.

In the past I've blown oxy at the end of the day after the Vyvanse (used to be adderall) has begun to come down, giving me a great synergizing effect that kind of uplifts me and gives me the normal feelings one usually expects out of OC high, but also makes the come down milder.

I just worry about what this is doing to my heart. Not that I have been doing it consistently, or for a long period of time, or at high doses... but I don't think it's a bad thing to be concerned/be cautious?

It is relatively safe as long as you don't overdose. There isn't anything inherently damaging about combining opioids with amphetamines. In fact codeine is combined with caffeine in quite a few medical preperations.

thats what i always thought.

except for the part about... caffeine..? Caffeine is definitely not an amphetamine last time I checked lol

^True but I was just making a point that even doctors mix stimulants and depressants.

The biggest worry about speed balling is overdosing because some of the effects go unnoticed or are hidden by the alternatively acting compound, but definitely still exist.

Spot on, good info for sure. OP, follow this poster's advice. Keep your dosages reasonable for what YOUR body takes, and you'll be fine. The masking of serious effects is the prominent issue.

I used to frequently mix adderall and oxycodone into the same line. Knowing how much is key.

Right, that's what I gathered before.. which is that the deaths you hear from (actual) speedballing or whatever in general, are from not the combination itself but the fact the person doesn't realize that they have taken far too much of one of the substances until one has worn off...

For example people out there who consider amphetamines + benzos to be a speedball - I think that is rather ridiculous. Although like consuming pretty much anything mind-altering, it most definitely can't be good for you... it is not a speedball. M.Ds prescribe stimulants and benzos together all the time. I just wasn't sure if it was really any different with opiates, since (obviously) opiates effects the brain and its transmitters very differently than benzos do.

Lowers the seizure threshold? Which stimulants do as well. of course that only affects certain individuals

Amph + opiate being a theoretical speedball perhaps, but not with benzos. Typo perhaps? However, I agree. It's injecting cocaine and heroin in the same shot, nothing else. I've snorted them in the same line, but I don't play with points.

Long term amphetamine usage is significantly more harmful than long term opiate usage (controlled vs. controlled, or non vs. non), systemically. Brain included, but not limited to.
