Without revealing any sources, how safe is it to purchase items from overseas sources? (i.e. foxy, T7, GBl, etc.) If a package gets seized at customs, will they come after you or will they just refuse to deliver the contents of the package? One of my friends wants to buy some things, but has read some of PhreeX's posts re: analogues and is a bit worried...

If it gets seized, you will get a notice that says that they have detained your package and you have a right to contest the claim blah blah blah. No, you won't get in trouble, you may lose your money, though. There are places to order research chems in the US, find one of those.

I'd definitely stick with U.S. sources for legal research chemicals. I've never had any trouble receiving orders. Not that long ago, someone here ordered T7 from overseas, and it was seized because it was in pill form, which makes it illegal because its intention to be consumed is apparent.

The results of your package being seized by Customs is defined by several circumstances, namely the Schedule.
By that I mean if the chemical is Scehule I, II, III, or whatever. If you are getting something that is a normal prescription and a Sched IV, like Valium, you'll just get a letter saying that they have your medicine and if you don't file a case with them in 30 days, it goes in the garbage.
If you are receiveing something that is questionable, and higher up on the scheduling list, Customs can do an investigation on you and you don't want that. Don't risk ordering anything from overseas that couldn't be prescribed to you by your regular doctor.

If it's not C-I then they are not likely to do an investigation... I just had an order siezed that had 30 ampules of Fentanyl (pharmacy in Africa) and only got the form letter.. but if you're looking for "research chemicals" just stick to US suppliers (hurry though!) ..
Remember, it's not illegal to order them, so you couldn't easily get in trouble..

GBL is a List-1 precursor, so while it isn't illegal by itself, if you can't justify your use for it, you *COULD* be charged with conspiracy to manufacture GHB (a C-I drug).. if they sieze it in a small amount, you *shouldnt* have anything to worry about, but if you are shipping in gallons, you might get a gentle wake up call from some jackbooted thugs with machine guns..

Just to shed a little more clarification on the GBL issue...
It is indeed explicitly ILLEGAL to import GBL (or any List I chem) into the US without a permit from the DEA. While it is LEGAL to possess GBL without any such permit, selling, manufacturing, or importing a List I chem require you to obtain a permit to do so.
Whether you would be prosecuted for such importation is a different question and probably depends on the amount you're attempting to import (as well as other variables).

As for GBL you can still get it for other (non ingesting) purposes in the US without too much trouble.
Its uses as a solvent for various purposes if that helps.
And everyone is dead on about customs and the letter.
