hello.

for reference i am a daily opiate user. right now my doc is oxycodone, 60-80mgs a day.

i expected to be in withdrawal for 4 days. so seven and a half hours ago i took 6mgs of loperamide to help with stomach issues. which really didn't do much at all. felt like it worked for maybe a few hours.

anyway, i was able to score but am a little worried. the drug interaction checker at drugs.com says these two together should be avoided because of potentially excessive or prolonged cns depression.

i know this isn't really mixing since i'll be taking them so far apart but loperamide has up to a 14.4 hour half life.

does anyone have any first hand experience with how loperamide acts with other opiates?

dude youre fine.. go for it. And yeah ive combined both of the drugs without problems.

It will increase the amount of constipation probably, but prolonged and increased CNS depression? That doesn't make sense, as loperamide is not supposed to cross the BBB.

^^ It's gotta do something more than increase constipation if it does such a profoundly awesome job getting rid of heroin withdrawal in high doses.

thanks for the replies. i ended up using about 8 hours after the lopermide dose and i didn't notice anything unusual. i wasn't expecting a boost because of the bbb issue. but i've read so many stories here about people getting high off loperamide i was a little nervous about taking the two so close.

Blondie you're out of the loop, my friend. This is discussed a lot... MOST of it is exported back across the BBB due to P-glycoprotein but a tiny amount does cross in therapeutic doses. In massive doses enough crosses to produce substantial central effects.

Sixpartseven, myself and MANY others around here have been able to stop or reduce withdrawals from substantial habits very effectively with large doses.

I think case nailed it- the central effects won't be too problematic given your tolerance and the low dose of lope but it will exacerbate the constipation a lot more than it increases the central effects.

If you're concerned, just reduce your oxy dose a little bit to be safe.

EDIT:

I'm too late apparently... so did you notice any difference?

i took my normal dose and didn't notice any increase in the high or anything else unusual. i was hoping for a little bit of an extra kick but no luck. i'm thinking it's because i only took 6mgs. that's nothing compared to some of the stories i've read here.

^^ Yeah that's nothing. The doses of loperamide that would have that sort of effect are totally impractical. though even 6mgs is enough to help a good deal with withdrawal, 12-20mgs completely getting rid of withdrawal with most sized habits i have heard of.

Since this is resolved, I'm going to go ahead and lock this up. If anyone at all would like this reopened, please feel free to private message me and I'll certainly do that.
