I was taking zyprexa for quit a long time at only 5mg a night & i was often taking valium or temazepam recreationally. im wondering if that has been dangerous or not. Id sometimes take over 100mg or valium or 200mg of temazepam.
I barely feel the effects of benzos except a mild calmness but i may be getting prescribed xanax soon which would be a different story.
Ive also been changed to seroquel which i find is slightly more sedating. Unlike zyprexa I take high doses of seropquel, sometimes up to 400mg because it only has a short half life. I didnt like taking high doses of zyprexa cuz it kept me tired due to its long half life.
anyways now that ive changed to seroquel & i might be getting xanax again it's got me wondering how safe it is to mix these too.
I wouldnt take more than 8mg of xanax & i wouldnt take more than 400mg of seroquel but would i be ok if i mixed those kinds of doses together?

The mixture can be dangerous if you overdo it, especially if you take more than the prescribed dose of your antipsychotic. But if you are taking just 5 mg of Zyprexa and mixing that with a benzo then you should be okay. I used to take my Xanax along with my risperidone all the time. Now I'm on Abilify and I still take all kinds of benzos along with it.

^agreed :)

The dose of the benzo on it's own isn't as important as the dose in relation to the antipsychotic. Antipsychotics are sedating, so combining high doses with what would be a high dose of benzo for you could be dangerous, yes, but at 5mg Zyprexa/olanzapine or 400mg Seroquel/quetiapine and your usual benzo dose you should be okay - I would reduce benzo dose howeve to be certainr, to account for the additonal sedation from the antipsychotic, and to make sure the combo is okay for you. Remember not to ass in any other CNS depressants (opioids, alcohol etc) as this greatly increases your chance of overdosing.

Xanax is no more risky than any other benzo as long as you convert it to the appropriate dose doe you. 0.5mg Xanax = 10mg diazepam, so 8mg Xanax = 160mg diaz. There is a conversion chart link at the top of the forum.

effie i was gunna write u a PM but says i can only right one every couple of hrs or something. geez they should just make it at most 1/2 an hr. what is it suppose to stop spam or something?
anyways.
what im really trying to find it if is it is has dangerous just interactions.
alcohol & benzos potentiate each other. i know that. IM guessing benzos & APs dont do that though as u'r only telling me to be careful with the doses rather than dont do it at all.
