Safe-injection sites to open in Quebec

hi i've lurked BL for quite sometime and haven't had the nerve to post anything, but i just found this article on the web, and after a forum search on the topic, decided that since i couldn't find this, i thought it would make a good first post. the article is here:

they need to open these around the nation... especially in dade and broward counties in miami where you cannot purchase syringes... no harm reduction here :/

That's great news - however, let's not forget that this insanely retrograde conservative government has tried for years to shut down Vancouver's supervised injection site.
As for the Montreal site, let's just hope that people keep an open mind about it, so that there won't be any fighting over its location (I've heard it will be near Cactus), along with the usual 'please don't do it in my backyard, for the sake of our CHILDREN!!' argument...
In French, we call that reaction the 'pas dans ma cour!' syndrom ('not in my backyard' syndrom)
