I was wondering if there are other people on BL who attend Rutgers University in New Brunswick and to ask them what their experience of the school is like? Anecdotes are great.

I go to Rutgers in New Brunswick. I transferred there a year and half ago. I transferred because their math program is so good. I don't have many neat party stories or anything like that because I commuted for the whole first year at Rutgers. From what I gather, it is quite party intensive and you can probably find a party whenever you want.

I came there for academics and I certainly got plenty of it. It's a good school for learning and partying, so while you may be pushed hard to do schoolwork, there is always a way to relax.

PM me if you ever want to hang out once the spring semester comes up.

I'm Canadian, and never heard of it at our University fairs...New Brunswick is really nice though, I'm sure it ain't a bad school at all. Look into the big university in Nova Scotia also, I forget the name, possibly Dalhousie, or something, that's supposed to be quite a nice one also.

I hear Rutgers is a fun school, ive visited the campuses a few times and my straight edged conservative douchebag asian friends go there complaining about the party life. The housing is a little bleh. I go to Ramapo which isnt very party hardy. Im thinkin about either transfering there or somewhere in the city or boston.

Heresy, Rutgers is a fun school to go to. I think there is something for everyone here. If you never like to party there are plenty of quiet libraries and cafes that you can go to so that shouldn't be a problem...

Housing is a problem...I personally don't like the on-campus housing. It's expensive and not that great, so I moved off as soon as possible. But then, all of the houses in New Brunswick that rent rooms have nightmarishly bad landlords that are really lax with maintenance and are run down from generations of college students. You can work with it though. That is really your only option unless you want to try living in one of the newer apartment building complexes, where you'd pay at least $850 for a small studio.

I live right near New Brunswick and Rutgers. Overpriced, mostly a party school, I'd never be caught dead there taking classes. When it comes to college I want a good education without the stupid party shit going on and shitty housing so I go elsewhere to get a great education without spending a ridiculous fortune for it.

I have many friends who graduated from there and some who are attending now. If you don't mind being in classes with hundreds of people and you do not want to get that intensive student-professor relationship, want to hardly ever attend your courses and still coast by, Rutgers is probably for you. If you put the work in it's a great school, but most of the people I know prefer smaller courses and more intensive focus.

If you're going to party there be careful and use a lot of protection. I think I've read a few articles stating that Rutgers is notorious for STD infections, and it certainly has a local reputation for it.

Also, if you are going to live off campus you are probably going to have to put up with some very shitty living conditions. New Brunswick isn't the cleanest place and most of the places available for rent are god-awful.

Rutgers, overpriced? I know absolutely brilliant students at Rutgers who came here for the price. They were also accepted by but ultimately not able to enter the exclusive world of Ivy League schools because of the ridiculous prices those schools require.

Granted, New Brunswick is not the "nicest" town, conventionally speaking, it's neat for college students to live in a town that is for real, rather than a manicured, college bubble where they will learn nothing about life.

As a math major taking advanced undergraduate math courses, I have had classes with a ridiculously low number of students. One of my classes had 6 kids in it! Talk about a high professor-to-student ratio! I do understand where you are coming from with the more popular course loads, especially the general biology and chemistry offerings. But once you get into more specialized classes tailored to your specific major, the class size shrinks considerably.

a few years ago
i read in the paper
either herpes or HPV genital warts is
out of control at that school
as well as other sTd's

LOL Rutgers STD rate is through the roof! One in 10 kids at rutgers has an std according to a professor i know.

back in the day i used to drive to rugters eb, with a couple friends not knowing anyone inside we lasted 1 week, going from doorm to doorm, hiting it with bictches, buying us free food at the cafes, letting use crash in rooms getting out nuts off.,..we only cut if off cuz we want to sleep in bed at home..

oh rugters :)

I used to go down there quite a few times a week to party. Besides the raging STD's that are going around, and the new Brunswick bombsquard stopping our ether get togethers, it was a good time.

LOL SLUTGERS...

Yeah I live about 20 minutes from New Brunswick and have partied it up at Rutgers.

Three words. Fast. Easy. Women.

Can't beat the grease trucks late at night if your drunk with nothing to go back and poke on.
