he divorced katy perry by text apparently. she also says she knows 'the real reason' behind it and is 'keeping it locked away' incase she needs it at some future point..


in other words, he's gay. who'd have thought it

i don't think it's fair or relevant to cast aspertions on his sexuality. the problem is he's a celebrity so it's all about HIM, not the issues he wants to advocate for.

it's mad to mention him and prof. Nutt in the same sentence.

Stop prescribing Methadone & get all addicts to go to 12 step Rehabs .

Cos if it worked for him , it's bound to work for the other 300,000 Heroin Addicts :\
 
life just aint that simple is it. treatment has got to be tailored to individuals if it's to be successfull I think, but noone has the resources or the inclination to put that much effort into helping people. plus everyone looks down their noses at people who use drugs, that attitude has got to change first before anything else.

fuck knows, it's a complicated problem.

yeah, not sure where i was going with that. i'd just got up. i think its cos I remember people here lambadting prof nutt for just being on an ego driven glory hunting ego trip.

I think compassion and treating addicts like human beings in need of decent care and treatment, not worthless scum bags invisible to society. pretty much what you just said ^
 
Methadone sure isn't the answer but it's cheap & does help a percentage of folk to live a normal life .

12 Step Rehabs are stupidly expensive & there is no guarantee of success .

Many times i have seen young addicts forced into these places by there parents at the cost of £10,000 up only for the addict to either abscond or relapse within a week.

End of the day unless the individual really wants to stop using they won't no matter how much Russel Brand or any one else says on the matter.

It's complicated for sure but we seem to want to make it even more complicated these days from my experiences.

well I totally agree with that, having been treated with contempt and disdain in exactly that manner by 99% of the medical professionals I've had contact with due to fuckups with drugs.

I guess he has the money to pay whatever it took, maybe he doesn't realise not everyone is a loaded celebrity.
 
i think he kicked the drugs before he was a loaded celeb. i used to think he was still on some sorta stim by how wired he is sometimes when he talks, guess not though

he spoke sense, eloquent clever bloke

That's the thing , i do believe that he cares and is sincere.

Problem he is so far removed from normal society that it makes his ideals about Drug Treatment for your average person with little or no finacial means pretty much impossible .
 
he probably had loads of very supporting friends & family around him aswell, another luxury many people just don't have.
 
It was one of his well of friends that paid for his treatment actually Ceres . Also he had a job in the field that he enjoys working in lined up for him on discharge .

Your average addict is lucky to have a Hostel place in the shitest part of town & £70 a week . Or if you have still got them & can handle it . Back to yer Folks 8(
