Strange position Russell Brand takes on drugs - says "I don't like to be drawn on that" when anyone suggests decriminalisation and then says "I want to concentrate on treating people with compassion". How the fuck can you treat someone with compassion when what they're doing is illegal and results in them being locked up?

He said "I didn't care whether or not drugs were illegal - I got them anyway". That's fine until you get caught isn't it. Then the fact that it's illegal matters a great deal. Not to mention with legal drugs you get decent stuff so you wouldn't have the same disease/infection issues.

russell brand is an intolerable tosser, I don't know how anyone can stand him for longer than a couple of seconds, in order to listen to anything he says.

fuck knows where brand scored his smack. turn up most the places i know looking and talking like that he'd be lucky to get out alive, nevermind with his drugs intact

most ex users get that sanctimonious twat thing going on. almost enough to put you off giving up

I think he was right not to be drawn into that discussion, so many watching would have a knee jerk reaction and switch off and close their minds to anything on the subject following that immediate proposal. By avoiding it he could focus on the compassion element, get people to actually stop and think. And decriminalisation would lead from there, baby steps and all that.

People like him and Prof nutt get slagged by some BLers but they are the people with a voice on this subject and they are using it for undeniable good.

I really can't stand his voice or persona and can't reconcile either of them with him talking about serious matters even if I completely agree with him, I'm just allergic to the motherfucker.

My girlfriend has been a fan forever and recently met him and was actually quite upset, not by anything he said or did but by what she described as a horrible aura of darkness around him, like he didn't have a soul.... which is not a very 'her' thing to say at all. I was of course delighted by this but she was well freaked out innit.

.

You aren't the only one mate , i just didn't want to be the only person to say it ;) At least we can cop a load of flack together. #
My psychiatrist wrote a book with him & he's a complete knobber (My Psychiatrist )

he should post on bl, at least then he would be taken for what hes saying instead of being taken for a fuckwit.

Do you mean physically or as in he has a high opinion of himself? I guess both could be true. I dunno if it's the hair or what but he does have that whole lollipop / spoon vibe going on.

edit: I see what you're saying, b & w. I have never actually been able to listen to his views on prohibition because I am genetically predisposed to not being able to stand a single sound he makes. I vaguely recall reading a piece he did on the subject and coming away thinking he'd argued articulately but that there was something illogical and fucked about his central planks, can't remember precisely what though.

And he's clever. And successful. Probably winds you lot right up.

depends on your definition of successfull. being a media whore doesn't count for much in my books. I can't tell if he's clever because he's impossible to listen to.

is it true he wanked off a builder in a pub toilet as part of becoming successfull? or am I just full of nathan barley.
