Runny Nose from smoking Marijuana

Hey every1, Every time i smoke weed (Usually a Blunt or Bowl) I seem to get a Runny nose that lasts for around 10 minutes. Ive been smoking everyday for about 7 years. I had a theory that it was the heat from the smoke loosening up the mucus ( You know how you drink a hot beverage/Eat hot soup or take a hot shower and it makes your nose run), But today i decided to look into it and i read a few places that it could be an allergy. Has anyone else experienced this? Do you know what is causing it? I also use my nose daily for other things (won't get into that, but may be a contributing factor). Thanks is advance!
 
This happens to me as well. Especially after I take in a cougher. I think it's fairly normal, mine seem to last 5 minutes or so
 
IIRC cannabis is a bronchodilator which increases mucous release which is also one of the reasons mj doesn't cause severe tar buildup and is actually supposed to be good for asthma due to opened bronchial airways, although I'm sure an asthmatic person would wanna vapourize rather than smoke. I too have to blow my nose a couple times after a sesh, especially with bong and gravity bong rips.
 
weird i hit the bong when iv got a cold cause it help block me up. sure you aint got tea leaves or rosemary or something?
 
Hmm, I have a friend who I smoke with a lot who gets a runny nose every time we smoke, literally everytime. He may be allergic to it though because I've seen him breakout after smoking but thats besides the point.

I usually only get the runny nose when I take big rips off a bong or something and cough violently. I don't think it's too uncommon what you're experiencing.
 
Thanks Every for the responses, I have noticed it occurs more when smoking out of a bowl (Harsher hits leading to coughing) pretty much what everyone has said. Time to burn One, Cheers!
 
Do u coincidentially suffer from hay fever ? I do, and i find that sometimes weed triggers my allergies and i get really itchy eyes and and a running nose. Taking a mild anti-histaminicum like cetrizine may offer u some relieve in that case.
 
It doesn't sound like anything related to hay fever (although I could be wrong). This is very common amongst the stoners I know. The fact that you say it only lasts for the first 10 minutes makes me believe it's strictly a result of the weed as that's how long the stuffy nose and thicker saliva lasts for me.
 
use a vaporizer instead of any burning and you would see the health benefits and difference
