Running nose (thick, with powder in) after insufflating?

Sorry in advance for TMI on grossness lol.

I've noticed after I insufflate (various things, mostly opiates) I get quite a thick mucous running out or briefly clogging the nostril I used.
I usually try to snort it back and swallow it because it contains the drug. It has that familiar opiate bitter taste and the times it has ran out of my nose had visible grains of the powder I snorted in it.

Am I just not inhaling/snorting hard enough? Or is it that I am insufflating too much (it's not that much)?

Any advice would be great. Not only is it unpleasant I also worry about the inevitable leakage or sneezing wasting the drug.

Depends on what you're snorting, this happens more if you use a bill.
Get a small straw and place it pretty far up your nose. Inhale lightly, it's easier to snort it down your throat like this.
I also found cocaine doesn't do this near as bad, but ketamine is terrible.

Mostly Oxycodone/OxyContin, sometimes morphine.

I already use a straw. I'll try inserting it a little further, thanks.

Try smaller bumps and see if that helps. Try sniffing a bit of saline or water in your nostril to get it all down once you're finished.

I already try to snort a little saline whenever I've done a larger amount (like, more than one pill; or, more than a couple of lines) but I worry about swallowing the saline solution.

Is it safe? I mean just the odd mouthful (noseful? lol) here and there, not literally DRINKING it. It's just salt water isn't it?

It's safe to swallow, it's just a few drops to get the stuff down

By clean my nose out do you mean by snorting saline?
How often should I do it?

Spray enough to keep your nose moist through the whole thing.

At the end, spray until your nose is running down your throat, and spit it all out and blow your nose.
