Rubbing essential oils on your skin + activity = MDA-like experience??

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

A quick Google search will show how lots of people ingest certain essential oils, often with other herbs trying to gain psychoactive effects. Most of the time, their experiments fail, sometimes they have success.

Having said that, I also read in several places how rubbing an essential oil on your leg muscles, and then doing strenuous activity like dancing or running, the proper absorption and biosynthesis happens from the ammonia excretion from the muscle activity (or something like that) and the result is a full on MDA-like effect, including visuals, euphoria and stimulation, for the duration of the muscle activity. It has been said that the effect only happens while you are putting strain on the muscles, and then subside shortly after stopping movement.

I've seen this being talked about on lots of different forums and sites, however I can't find any good discussions particularly about the actual subject of rubbing oil on the skin and exercising for euphoric effects. Some folks talk about "going to parties all the time smelling like christmas pastries" due to having nutmeg oil rubbed all over themselves, and dancing the night away basking in euphoria. There has also been talk of dance floors at raves stinking like essential oils. Even one account of someone saying how they used some nutmeg oil in the morning, jogged to the post office, and became overwhelmed with effects, saying it was "very high dose MDA like, both visually and physically".

Reading these accounts makes me confident that there is SOMETHING to be investigated here!

Anyone care to share info/personal experiences?

Thanks in advance for the replies!! :)

Essential oils can be very potent, it's important to use caution with them. I'd avoid any experiments without having some real data

Yep, hence this thread! :)

I don't plan to ingest any essential oils orally. It's the simple "rub it on your legs and dance" part that has me intrigued. I understand this comes with dangers all of it's own, and that's why I'm asking questions.

Nice link to the foods article, thanks for that! Funny read, but not quite what I'm looking for.

We tried to get high on nutmeg when we were kids - a lot of vomiting ensued! It's not popular or abused for good reason.

There is nothing magical about essential oils. They are just oils distilled from plants. They have widely different effects. Some plants do virtually nothing, some have developed chemicals to serve various evolutionary purposes and some of these will interact with your body chemistry in a variety of ways - just like any other range of chemicals. Sometimes the most useful chemicals a plant produces are in the oil sometimes they are in aqueous solution.

I'm not aware of any plant oil producing an MDMA effect and I would very much doubt one exists on the basis that if it did, we'd all know about it by now nd be using it.

The the dancefloor stinks of patchouli oil it means you're at a rave full of hippies!
