RSO thread

I like RSO, gives you a high plus some potent anti inflammatory effects. If you’re using it for medicinal reasons make sure it’s dark green/black which indicates chlorophyll present. Idk why but those batches of RSO were much better and reducing my tumors and anti inflammatory. If you’re using it just to get high, grab whatever. I personally like CBG high RSO’s, real relaxing.

Rso is a gamechanger for me. It's just frustrating that in ny there's 3 medical producers and 1 rec producer of rso products, and only 2 of the med producers offer a single strain product

QWISO?

Usually its advised to use ethanol for extractions that will be consumed
yeah prolly, but i've made qwiso and consuned it a buncha times. [actually, i've consumed probably a quart of isopropyl alcohol over a couple years... back in my stupider days but that's for another thread. rubbing alcohol might not be regulated by food agencies, but afaik it's really just a more angry ethanol with a little devil's tail. double the potency, double the toxicity... does the evap test apply here?]

anyway, i do find that ethanol extractions are nicer, and there's a bigger window... like a few minutes of shaking before filtering vs. with isopropanol and the need to be MUCH quicker... like 20 seconds of shaking and a VERY fast strain >> filter.

even with my iso hash, i end up winterizing it using ethanol. and i always found my good runs to be better than whatever bho the local rave kids were slinging a few years ago. now the stuff at the dispensaries destroys anything my setup is capable of.

oh, speaking of which... rso is AMAZING!

it's a great bang for the buck if you buy edible cannabis preparations anyway, and i usually like the taste (but i always go for chemdog stuff).

i've found that the transparent golden colored ones typically have more of a head high... and the thick, opaque black RSOs to me usually cause swift and deep sleepiness. but i'm sure there's a lot going on, so maybe that's not a rule of thumb?

blowing my kitchen up
Still have gas? 😄 You can just boil the water in a pot and place a dish on top of it to evaporate, it'll usually keep boiling long enough to evaporate most if not all of the remaining alcohol. If it doesn't just heat it up again for a second time. That's what I did before I picked up a ceramic electric cooking plate, they're pretty cheap secondhand. And the weed smell isn't really noticeable for very far, the alcohol travels further though.

I like the alcohol extracts a lot more than butane as well, not as selective as butane, picks up more terpenes and other goodies, don't do quick washes either, with good weed anyways. Trimmings at the most half a minute with iso to make sure it doesn't pick up too much gunk, it never solidifies fully if you try to evaporate even the thinnest layer of iso. I don't really use ethanol, the amount of isopropyl that remains in the endproduct should be completely negligible if you do it right, which is basically just making sure that you don't pour in too much liquid to evaporate all at once. If you pour in too much it will keep bubbling up alcohol because the viscosity has become too high to get rid of it, looks like decarbing good oil, but it's the alcohol trying to get out, which will not happen completely, always just try to keep the layer of alcohol to evaporate as thin as possible and you nearly always get shatter material.

And try to reclaim the oil from the plate while it's still warm, hot actually, just put a towel underneath it, makes it so much easier to collect the oil without making a mess by scattering little bits all over yourself when you're trying to scrape it together when it cools down.

i had sativa chocolates for my RSO experience, and it was a pretty up feeling.

speaking of those chocolates, i could taste the weed in them, which i can't at all in some other chocolates and gummies. i liked that i could taste that it was a marijuana product.
