i got some RULES though :) NO Final Fantasies, Breath of Fires(although they are kinda underated...)Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, etc etc you get the drift.

Im talking games that not many people have gotten into or gotten much credit cause there are a ton of them.

here are mine, and i think of these as absolute necesities if you are an rpg fan.

NES: Crystalis, Fire Emblem(though japanese, almost through translation i hear, but get a guide, great SRPGs)

SNES: Soul Blazer,

TERRANIGMA ( this game is zelda and Secret of Mana put together in one fucking glorious mix, only got a Jap and German release though, but you CAN get the translated rom, and FUCKING GET IT!!!!!)

Seiken Denetsu III-most likelye any Secret of Mana fan has played this...if you havne't the fan translated rom is out.

Langrisser: Great SRPGs that never saw the US shores, but got a fan trans...emulate it.

Star Ocean: wonderful game, that's all i can really say, will pull you in for sure.

Shin Megamie Tensei series: great, mature, dark srpgs that are hard as hell

PS1: Tales of Destiny and it's sequel ( i know the tales series is fairly popular these days, but these two are heavily underated)

Mega Man Legends-Action RPG enough, one of my favorite games of all time and does everything right with oh so much charm.

Sayuiki Journey West: great underated SRPG about gods in china and shit.

Star Ocean II-same as Star Ocean for SNES, incredible experience

Alundra 1 and 2 were pretty cool Zelda type hybrids.

Vagrant Story- diffficult to get into but possible the best battle system in an RPG ever if you invest the time.

Vandal Hearts-good srpgs

ahhhhhrghhghhg im forgetting some and i know it for the ps1....ill come back to it

PS2: Shin Megamie Tensei: Nocturne, SMT: Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2-hard to find but very worth it...mature themed, and very dark, pretty hard games, but hard games are goood!

Disgaea 1 and 2: Some of the best and most addictive SRPGs in history. ever.

Steambot Chronicles: a sandbox game about mechs that's really addicting and charming, with branching paths and TONS of replayability.

i know im forgetting PS2 ones too....tooo dopesick to leave my computer and walk to the basement though.

COMPUTER: Gothic 1, 2, 3- morrowind but better i think, just as much freedom but it has that charm that just fuckin hooks you, can do whatever you want, wonderfully underated game.

Sacred: Better than Diablo II in every aspect imaginable, find this game and play it if you want to play a good DII clone(this one isn't really a clone though as it expands on it soooo much, the game actually is difficult like a real RPG, and not a loot fest).

phew...alright geeks, lets hear em!

Most definitely some of my favorite obscure/somewhat obscure RPG's off all time (even though SFIII is a stradegy/RPG). Panzer is probably my favorite, with Xenogears close behind.

And... there's definitely more where that come from - cheers!

Most well-made videogame of all time:

I wish Matsuno would make a sequel where you can not only modify weapons as in this one, but magic as well. Wouldn't that be a spontaneous orgasm?

Most forgotten beautiful RPG of all time:

Best computer game ever:

As well as the Xenosaga series, Persona (I have yet to try others from the shin megami cycle), Final Fantasy XII, Suikoden, and maybe Disgaea (I'll tell you when I have played it enough!).

I have also recently seen Radiata Stories for the PS2, it seemed pretty good.

Goddamn how could i forget Valkye Profile...the sequel is easily as stunning. This is a great thread i think cause RPGs are the shit

I need to find another copy of xenogears, just soooo expensive now

and good call on the saturn games, forgot about them.

i didn't mention DW because it's one of the most wel known rpgs ever, in Japan when a new DW installment comes out they get the day off of school. Im pretty sure this is true because i was in japan when DQVII came out.

yeah Radiata Stories is great, Tri Ace makes nothing but brilliant games.

and chekc out Valrkrye Profile 2:Silmeria.

also some forgotten classics from the Gameboy Color were Dragon Warrior Monsters. great games, way more deep than pokemon and i love those games.

I too loved this one! I never got a chance to play the sequel, but I really like the original.

Additionally, I never got a chance to obtain/play the original PSX version of Valkyrie Profile, but I currently am playing Lenneth on PSP :

That stated, it's almost about time for me to pick up a copy of Silmeria :

I am about 3 hours into VP: Silmeria... and so far I am disapointed :(.

Don't get me wrong, the artwork/graphics are breathtaking (tri-ace is tha shit), and the characters so far are awesomr, but whatever happened to actually being a valkyrie and visiting people at the hour of death?? That was what I liked about the first one, all the little stories that made up the mosaic of a larger one.

I'll let you know what I think when I go further in...

^ StarOcean - another classic series! Damn, I need to comb through my archive today as I am forgetting some of the best damn ones out there (console).

:D

although a wonderful game, it reached Greatest Hits status in the United States which is why i discluded it though. I may have got no love on the PAL release though.

same era when porn was seeing a womans shoulders or ankles eh? haha mainframe.

I'm ashamed about that I forgot about Earthbound. That game was sooooo good.

The Mother 3 (earthbound's sequel) should be getting it's finished fan translation too pretty soon, well it better.

oh and i forgot about Harvest Moon. Who ever thought a farm simulator could be so addictive. Harvest Moon 64 was when the series peaked in my opinion, although i own all of them, that was the only one that took time away from school.

oh yeah Arcanum is good.

Planescape Torment is also really good, so are the Icewindale Games. Planescape Torment is way more underated though.
