Hello I've been taking Roxie's for 4 years I take up to 20 30mg a day and as of about a week ago the don't seem to have any effect anymore no matter how many I take. Has anyone ever heard of this and or have any suggestions??

I assume by "no effect" you mean it's not getting you high, not that it's actually doing nothing. Presumably it's still at least alleviating withdrawal symptoms right?

How is this different from normal tolerance that gradually grows over time? Do you mean it seems like your tolerance skyrocketed very suddenly and you can now take a lot more than usual without noticeable effects, when your normal amount had been getting you plenty high last week? Are you taking any other drugs? Anything else change in your life or lifestyle? Had you been using more Roxies than usual lately? We need more info in order to tell you if it's just normal tolerance or not. 600mg is a lot of oxycodone to be taking every day. Sometimes with opioids people eventually get such a high tolerance that they don't feel anything anymore other than it relieving withdrawal symptoms unless they take an insanely high dose or switch ROAs (neither of which I recommend!). My first guess is that you just have built up a really high tolerance.

Without more info, my first suggestion would be to try to reduce your dose for a while to lower your tolerance.

You have an opiate tolerance big time. You've reached the point where you don't feel the high anymore. I never thought it would happen to me but I got there too. Example, at the time I weighed 95 pounds. Doing at least 8-9-10 of them daily. My dad weighs 345 pounds and had back pain once and asked me if I had anything to help. Sure I gave him one of my 30's. Came home from work and he was passed out in the truck still in the driveway. He got so messed up from it - nauseated and sweating. He couldn't make it to work it fucked him up so bad and he was upset. "How do you take these pills?" I had such a tolerance at that time I didn't really think about it but I felt terrible. The only suggestion I have is step down slowly. Get help from your doctor

I was pretty much going to ask the same questions as above. Even though it takes me a crazy amount of oxy to get buzzed, the 30mg Roxis still do work with pain relief.
Now if the Roxis are no longer cutting it for pain relief, you should talk with your doctor and ask him to put you on a time release pain killer like oxycontin or opana. You take those 2 or 3 times a day and would take the roxis as needed for break threw pain.

your tolerance is just too high. try tapering down or getting on methadone or suboxone

I have the same issue. Mostly because I shot up my oxycodone tolerance by developing a nice 600mg/iv daily habit. I weened down and am currently being administered IV ready ampules of dilaudid every 3 hours by a trained R.N and it seems to both help relieve my pain more as well as affect me more, albeit differently and without that speedy oxycodone euphoria I love :-( . Im now slowly starting to take 90mg of roxi here and there to somewhat feel that again.

Bottomline is you have to either take a break, get off completely for a while using suboxone or methadone, taper down and stay down for a while, or switch to another opiate to get away from roxies for a while if you want the CHANCE of some euphoria later. You'll still have to dose carefully to keep it. And don't forget that most people OD after tolerance breaks because they think they still need the same amount to get high. For your own sake, slowly and cautiously reassess where you're at after whatever you decide to do. Good luck :-)

Do you have insurance? Check into rehab because it's difficult to try and quit on your own.

Yeah, with opiates, there comes a time where it just stops working.....I got there with IV heroin....I could get high, eventually, but I had to do ridiculous, dangerous amounts to get high....
You can ALWAYS get high, but it's unbelievable how high your tolerance can go with this class of drugs!

I was at the equivalent of about 400 - 600mg oxycodone per day. I was actually using Oxycodone(oral & nasal), Opana(nasal), Dilaudid(nasal) and heroin(black tar - nasal & smoked). I tried many times to taper down, unsuccessfully.

Finally I switched to exclusively oral oxycodone and was able to taper down to 210mg per day within about 2 weeks. Once I switched to oral oxycdone only and stopped snorting stuff and stopped using heroin, it was much easier to control my cravings and stick to a taper.

Once I stabilized on 210mg oral oxycodone per day, I went to a doctor and got on Suboxone and I'm currently on 8mg per day and I feel good. The 24 hour withdrawl was rough, I started with about 12mg Suboxone per day(split dosing 3 to 4 times per day) and it took about 4 or 5 days to feel just average, plus another 2 weeks to really feel normal but I was still able to work, eat and sleep the first day on Sub.

It can take a few days to adjust to the Subutex. Also if you took the Sub too soon after last taking other opioids it can make you feel worse. Many people also seem to find less is more with Subs too. How are you feeling now? Are you experiencing withdrawal symptoms or just not getting high?

op thats tolerance you need to take a higher dose

i don't think thats the correct thing to be suggesting in this case. i have the same issue - OC80's don't get me where i want to be anymore and after breaking down two days ago i realized i had to take a break or i'd spiral into taking more and more. i think for the OP the best thing to do would be to taper now, and reduce his tolerance before going further with his opiates if he even wants to continue taking them. the high will go. and it won't come back unless you take a break i've realized after putting a good two days of consideration and thought into it.

i think going to a maintainance clinic or even talking to a doctor about it is the best course of action here. your tolerance is way too high now and by adding more and more you're gonna end up with some serious kidney/liver problems if you don't have them already.

just my 0.2 cents.

I:(ve had the same problem....ive been taking roxies for years and just this past year, I feel like they don't work any more no matter how much I take! Its almost if its like a game; like one day ill take 4 and get a slight nod any then the next day ill take like 10, thinking ill get a crazy nod, and ill get the same result as if I took 4?!?! Its really weird. Some days I take like 5 or so and I cant even feel it. I know my tolerance is def high, but still..... lately ive been trying to take my roxies w some tramadol to get an extra kick. Sometimes it helps skittle. Eventually I would like to take a week or two off cause I have some subs. But it ducks cause I go to a pm doc every two weeks n I get drug tested n I know subs stay In ur system for like weeks :( good luck
