Rotten Mephedrone?

Long story short, a friend tossed a couple bags of drone into the grass about a week ago. It's succubus soul scared him. Anyway, we went and found a couple of them. in between then and now it has been rained on and turned into yellow goo. I want to dry it out and see whether it still has activity.
My questions are...
Anyone have experience with this kind of thing?
Could it have degraded into something toxic? (More toxic than mephedrone that is, pfffttt)
Should I sniff it?!

Help please.
 
Cathinones aren't very stable in solution... they tend to degrade (not sure the degradation route), on a timescale of days-to-weeks in solution. The degradation products will probably be yellow/brown. It will likely have lost potency, and i don't recommend consuming it, though it probably isn't anything particularly nasty.

For some reason I keep recalling some weird thing about people who had mdma/similar whatever that kept turning into yellow goo and someone mentioned amt...

Thank you, TheAzo, for productively contributing. Its frustrating when a fairly large handful of someone's paid- for drugs are thrown away without their consultation.
I wish it was AMT in any case, that's one i've been itching to try, but no, it was known mmcat.

The goo was dried into a yellow powder and .15 g tested to no effect. Too much degradation. Would not recommend repeating tests. Tasted horrible (nasally). Looked rancid. Product was tossed.
 
hehe yeah, its just that i was like
"WTF? how the heck can leaving a bag of mephedrone in wet grass for a week convert it into aMT???" :P
 
dry it out and do an acetone wash (put powder/dry lump in acetone and filter through kitchen roll) afterwards- simple

then you will know if you still have drone
 
It's hard to tell. Cathinones are not stable, especially in solution, indeed. But this is a methcathinone making dimerization (and consequent degradation) structurally impossible.

My guess is that it should be okay but that there is a quite real possibility it is oxidized in another way. You might want to start very low if you decide to try it. But before you do ask yourself if saving a little money is worth poisoning yourself, even if the chance is not huge.
