Ron Paul speaks out on the Drug War on The Daily Show

Ron Paul basically wants to run this country as logically as possible without trying to please people in the short term for votes or put emotion/propaganda into his decisions. Thats what I like about him. He's not representing an extreme side of anything, he just wants to make things right and is willing to do so even if he isn't popular among his peers or Fox News.

...and I don't think any of us on here support the war on drugs.

My TEACHER was telling us that they should legalize drugs today but he quickly changed the subject for obvious reasons.

I agree with what Paul is saying but I dont think he did a good job expressing it. He should have said people that wanna use heroin will use heroin no matter its legal status and keeping it illegal only enrichs criminals then relate it to alcohal prohibition. slam fucking dunk. But no Paul babbles about some OTC codien and lets Stewart make him look niave. He is just not a good politician we should move on and look elsewhere for our patron.

^ beggars cant be choosers, i think its positive this is getting any kinda mainstream media attention

RON PAUL 2012, he's a true libertarian IMO. he's down to earth and empathizes but dosnt pity

This.

And I absolutely doubt anyone here (who isn't a narc - and if you are, I'm sorry you got C's in school and your kid's in rehab) supports the War on Drugs. That's precisely because the only people that do are functionally retarded. I mean the massive gap in logic and intelligence and moral absolutist stance it takes to make such an egregious assertion goes beyond mere stupidity, especially when the price is so very, very high.

from wat ive seen he really is one of the few real politicians that actually care about real issues and is not afraid to talk about them. Just imagine how many times this guy has been on cnn, msnbc, nbc, abc, fox, etc. and has talked about all of his usual issues and stuff and has been pushed to the side, talked down and flat out ignored, but the man still goes on, talking the most sane politics ive heard from any presidential candidate ever, actually. even tho i will vote for him if hes actually nominated, he will still not win. I dunno tho, after the appalling last few elections anything is possible. Weve had a retard elected twice, and an african american elected. Shouldnt be too hard to elect a person that, for the most part, has a good grip on reality.

I can't wait to see what it feels like to be a drug user in America and catered to during an election campaign into honestly believing that Ron Paul has an active interest in ending the war on drugs, only to be so sorely disappointed that I die a bitter, angry, and empty old man if/when he gets any sort of real power at all. That being said, I do like that he's at least talking about it. But the fact is that the "normal people" honestly believe in draconian drug laws, although you will hear the odd republican housewife claim that marijuana should be legal (qualified by a "that's it, though"). to change the system, you have to be a part of it first. I would rather have Ron Paul lie to a broader constituent base about his views on drugs, and then surprise us by actually getting elected and subsequently change federal drug laws.
