I've been rolling fairly regularly for a couple of years now. My friends and I have all gone through periods of time where each of us has "trouble" rolling and even though we take a great pill, we have a bad roll, or no roll as the case may be.
After much scientific analysis I've come to the following conclusions:
1. When a pill hits others in your group but not you, it is not the pills fault - it is yours. I'm really sick of people saying they've got a bung pill when clearly it isn't. (purple EZ test, affects everyone else, they've got huge pupils, sweating etc... but they say it's not working...)
2. You can hold off the strongest pill in the world, without even trying if the situation you're in isn't right. This has happened to me quite a bit. Eg. take a pill, hits everyone else in 30mins. 2 hours later, my pupils still tiny, feeling not much but a bit dopey. Changed my scenery (went outside) and all of a sudden, BANG! Pupils dilated, blew up in about 10 seconds flat. If you're not in the right place (physically or mentally) it won't work.
3. Especially with MDEA the pill often won't come on well because it makes you feel dopey and all fucked up. This is not a particularly comfortable feeling, and once again your body fights it even without you thinking about it.
4. If you have a headache it's almost impossible to actually roll.
5. Less is more!! Yes I know it sounds bizarre. I've spent two years trying to recreate my first blow up, which was mind-fuckingly intense. I thought that by taking a big dose (usually 1.5) it would hit me. What often happened was that for some reason it didn't.
I've finally figured out this: Your first roll, although fucking brilliant is actually a bit scary. That feeling of going over the edge of a cliff isn't exactly natural and a bit of apprehension is understandable. When you have a big dose, sometimes it works. But sometimes, the feeling of apprehension appears and holds the roll at bay.
Sometimes a roll "sneaking up on you" works best. I've found that about 3/4 of a good pill (with about a quarter of whizz to get you in a receptive mood) comes on more strongly than twice as much because your body doesn't fight it. Then, as soon as you feel it, and you are REALLY, REALLY relaxed, have the rest and you will roll big time - because you are very receptive and can't possibly feel anxiety at this point.
I dare you all to try it (the less is more thing I mean).
I know I'm babbling, but has anyone else actually noticed the things I'm talking about? Or is the "more is more" approach the dominant theory out there?
