Rolands new Aira TB3 and TR8

^not a clone.

remember the mc-303 piece of shit was supposed to be a 303 follow up.

not that this will be that bad, hell it could even be BETTER than a 303 but it's not the same.

I was thinking more of the fact that an original 303 is like $2500. I guess its weird that Roland is cashing in on the reissue. Maybe when people actually get decent at it and treat it as an instrument instead of this dorking around bit, where okay cool I can make 80s techno and house on the fly - the novelty!!. The demos that I've seen of it has been pretty awful. Not to be a snob or anything but it looks very much like entry level toy gear.

I dunno Im more thinking of sending some decent jungle or neuro by midi to these boxes and seeing if it'll squeel and make awful noises. This whole business of pushing buttons and making acid house has been done to tits. To tits I say!!!! :X:):|:D

I can just see little hipster Williamsburg fags snorting bad coke and dancing around to weak house thinking its the shit(e). We knew back then it was never very good to begin with anyways. Too much?

Dunno its probably a bit of me thinking that it really seperates the men from the boys when you can drop $3000 on a decent synth.

i don't know. sounds okay, but I don't really see the advantages to other rebuilds?

for a 303, I'd either get a xoxbox or an acidlab bassline.

for 808, the Acidlab Miami is pretty decent.

and those are real analog...

got to see one of these tr8s in person recently and its pretty cool. not bad, but it didn't blow me away by any means. i can see why some people would like it though. personally, i'm not a fan of drum machines, i'm more of a sample guy...

i heard roland made it with the possibility of adding more emulations of other analog drum machines in mind to it. So while right now it only emulates the 808 and 909 or whatever, in the future they may allow you to add other analog drum-sound emulations to it or something like that. I'm sure this was all covered in the video but I didn't feel like watching the whole video since I got to see someone else using it in person.

still, i see no personal need for one of these at all and won't be buying one.
