I was asked a question yesterday regarding what mechanism was responsible for anger/aggression (Roid Rage) whilst on Anabolic Steroids.?
I was unsure.....

I have always noticed anger/aggression associated with 19-nors like Tren/Deca... Also Check Drops is a 19-nor..
An imbalanced serotonergic system is generally regarded as being responsible for mood swings and potentially aggressive behaviour, particularly 5HT1B and the 5HT2 receptors..

I've found this abstract:

Anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) are partly misused by males in order to become brave and intoxicated and these agents are highly associated with psychosis, disinhibition, aggression and acts of violence. Since such behavioral states have been related to an imbalanced serotonergic system and the involvement of the serotonergic 5HT1B and the 5HT2 receptors, it was important to discern the impact of AAS on these receptors. The objective of our study was to investigate the effects of 2 weeks of treatment with the AAS nandrolone decanoate at three different doses (1, 5, 15 mg/kg/day) on the total specific binding of the radioligands [125I]-(±)-1-(2,5-dimethoxy-4-iodophenyl)-2-aminopropane (DOI) (5HT2 receptors) by autoradiography. All doses caused a significant down-regulation of the 5HT1B receptor density in the hippocampal CA1 and in the medial globus pallidus and a significant up-regulation of the 5HT2 receptor density in the nucleus accumbens shell. Alterations in receptor density were also observed in the lateral globus pallidus, ventromedial hypothalamus, the amygdala and in the intermediate layers of various cortex regions. In conclusion, serotonergic 5HT1B or 5HT2 receptors are likely to play important roles in mediating observed emotional states and behavioral changes among AAS abusers.

high dosed deca makes me aggresive and easily irritated I'm good as long as I dont go higher than 600mg/week. test on the other hand only makes me more assertive and confident w/o the anger issues. some dhea derivatives can turn me into kind of a dick as well (old 1ad 4ad) surprisingly out of all the hormonal products I have used testosterone boosters containing tribulus and horny goat weed give me the greatest increase in aggression & irritability (not much in the way of anabolic effeciacy though) clomid on the other hand makes me damn near suicidal

Fuck Clomid. You need it to keep your gains but fuck it makes me cry terribly.

As for roid rage, the only two compounds that have given me terrible rage to the point of barely maintaining control are 100mg of Trenblone Aceate ED, and 20mg of Methyldihydroboldenone (Methyl-1-Testosterone). Superdrol just makes me look angry when in fact I'm just tired and feeling fatigued from it lol.

Methyl-1-Test I refuse to use for cycles anymore due to the anger issues. I become irritated far to easily on it. If I do use it, it will be used like Cheque Drops, something to dose before lifting while cycling something else.

Trenbolone is one of those steroids that will give you anger but it's controllable. The higher the dose though and the longer the cycle, the more you are are prone to snapping. I know from experience. It's a steroid to be respected and a steroid that those who lack control will not be able to use.

As far as I am concerned though, on responsible dosages and stacks anger is only controllable as long as you don't use any drugs on it. If you are going to drink, pop benzos, take opiods, do coke, or take recreational stimulants on this shit you are going to end up losing control. I have already been there, and luckily no one got hurt and I learned my lesson. But that's a major reason why steroids and drugs do not fucking mix. It's dumb and dangerous to yourself and others to take a hormone or hormones that make you confident, aggressive, and more assertive, and then to take a drug that lowers you inhibitions, clouds your mind, slows you thinking, makes you impulsive, or blacks you out.

Another thing to remember as well; If you are a big angry dick off steroids, you are going to be an even bigger angry dick on steroids.

Roid rage is indeed applicable if the individual is using certain compounds he shouldn't, irresponsibly high dosages, irresponsible stacks, or using narcotics in conjunction with steroids.
 
It's placebo above all else. Studies show that only about 4% of men will have an....outburst on 600mg of Test a week

Stronger androgens like tren and fluoxymesterone certainly will boost your aggression to an extent but it's up to the individual to control it.
 
I've found quite a few studies involving Testosterone which show negligible results....... The few I have found on 19-nors suggest there is a significant link to aggression, through its indirect action on 5-HT.......
 
guido I feel ya on looking angry from methylated dht compounds my wife won't stop asking why im so mad, I tell her I'm not its just the headache from my ultradrol although usually by the time I've convinced her that everythings fine I'm in a genuinely bad mood lol. and you don't need clomid to keepyour gains gnrh and nolva will do just fine or u could just be like me and stay on indefinitely (sure my nuts are prolly dead but I've already got a kid so no big.

Trust me, it's needed to to get your natural Test production up again. It's why it's been staple in PCT for a long time.

I don't recommend anyone make the choice indefinitely to stay on. The only reason I blast and cruise is because my doctor recommend TRT.

Be careful staying on indefinitely. It's a tremendous strain to the body.
 
I know but I have intentions of competing at a very high level in the next few years (if I can ever bring my chest up to match my back and delts, and figure out how to get my calves to either stop growing or t least slow down a bit 24" calves look funny with 26" quads fucked up thing is i only train calves once a month tops and nothing more intense than some bodyweight calf raises)

on another more relevant note, anyone elses wife/gf blame ur juicing anytime they do something stupid or forget to do something really important and you get a little mad

No shit? Same here bro! I would absolutely love to compete, however it will be in the classic bodybuilding division. I have no in interest competing in the regular division because I find the contest has become "Who is the biggest freak?"; I have no desire to get a distended abdomen from insulin or the cartoonish head shape from HGH abuse.

When I was still with my girlfriend she blamed my "stupid muscle pills and supplements" (she had no clue I was on the gear, I'm sure she will when she fucking see's me in the next few months when I decide to take a stroll over to her job) for me getting mad when the situation would make even a Buddhist Monk foam at the mouth with seething anger.

My fucking parents blame my juicing for anytime I get mad. My friends blame the juice anytime I get mad. My fucking cat blames the juice when I get mad.

It's honestly not the juice; If I stub my toe I'm going to be pissed. If I forget to pick up the mail or complete a scheduled task I am going to be pissed. If some fuckhead at work is does something stupid and I end up having to clean up after him I am going to get pissed. If someone at the clinic cuts the line and smirks I am going to be pissed.

It doesn't seem to get me quite as bad as some guys though. I use benzodiazepines(chill pills) when I start feeling a temper tantrum coming on.

But tren in general, if something doesn't go my way, I either feel like lying in bed all day depressed or running around town with an axe.

Using L-tryptophan helps a lot as well as benzodiazepines as a means for a healthy way of me dealing with the anger.

What does your diet consist of when you cut? Is it a low-carb diet? A friend of mine told me that bodybuilders often develop short-term mental health problems when on a cutting phase, and I'm curious as to why this may be. Please elaborate more on your mental state when cutting?

I'm pretty much IIFYM but eating chicken, green veggies and brown rice has always made the cut much easier as those things fill you up.

I just get bad mood swings. I'll stare everyone in the eye like I'm going to kill them and feel generally very pissed off like a starving wolf/lion.

You got to kill them bro; Eat their liver for nutrients and their testicles for testosterone. It makes the bad feelings go away.
 
never noticed anything of the sort. I typically run 500mg testE but have done 750mg cycles. I know that's not the kind of cycle you'd expect it on, but I have had others doing same exact cycle who DO get aggressive/'ragey' (and they.re the types that tend to start acting that way within a few minutes of the first needle hitting their ass, LOL)
 
I get super angry at cars, pedestrians and others on their cell phones, trying to kill me, macho guys who act tough behind a vehicle, etc. when I'm urban cycling. I'll shout at them and call them names related to their body types or general obliviousness. I do that anyway, though.
 
I just have a sense of well being whenever im on test ... few other compounds def affect me tho, dianabol - king shit complex ego shinin' , always keep an eye to stay in check on dianabol or drol. Tren - fuck mountain goats / truly only steroid out of 30+ i've taken that makes me fuckin angry and edgy....tren is one hell of a compound but the sides for me n most are intense.
