I realise this topic has been brought up many (many) times however the answer always seems to be "they test for stims (MDMA, [meth]Amphets, Coke, Marijuana[THC]", when asked.

What I'm curious about however is what specifically (if this is "common" knowledge) these tests test for?

The actual drug itself? A metabolite? A by-product? (Or something else I'm missing?)

Also, is it known which reagents are used by the road side testers? Similar (the same?) as in a Mandelin, Marquis, or Mecke reagent?

I've got a document that says they can detect metabolites in saliva, but doesn't talk about specific tests and what they detect, it is more a general article comparing saliva swabs to perspiration swabs and the usefulness of the tests.

Also it's about 12 years old now. It's hard to find exact information on the road side drug tests. :\

The cops here found an easy way to test for pot in a roadside test, they say, "you can either blow in this bag, or you can have a slice of this pizza"), stoners will go the pizza every time :)

^^^ Hahaha .... lame :P

Hmm, well my thoughts M_B is that, I doubt the specific information would be available (let alone "freely" available). Actually I was close to posting this in ADD, possibly someone there could infer what maybe tested.

^ It should be freely available though. You could probably ask the police what company makes the tests they use, then ask that company exactly what they are testing for. There is no law against being inquisitive. :)
