I'm new around here but I'd like to pass along some advice, common sense to some, almost cost me my life. I had a habit of putting my roaches in a ziplock and only dipped into them during dry spells. Over time that bag grew into two bags, then three. Long story short, I caught bronchitis and pneumonia it hit me hard, real hard. My best guess is the dried saliva on the roaches is what caused it. Ever since then I never keep a roach around longer than a few days.

Good advice but better suited for the Social or a blog post. Sorry to hear you got sick. Picking apart roaches is a friggin chore anyway, I either toss em or put em in the soon-to-be-turned-into ISO-Hash jar.
