Ritalin Recreational Value

Okay, so I just came from the doctor 2 days ago and he put me on 10mg methylin (same thing as Ritalin) also they are the generic ones"methylphenidat" but yah anyways, is there any recreational value of snorting or IVing these things...

The thing is I am on a intensive outpatient program and they test for everything so all i can do to have fun with drugs is take my 100mg of methadone daily, and then I can show up positive for ritalin, So i got like 60 10mg pills of ritalin...

So what's a good way to get high? Also, without overdosing because my tolerance is only at 2 10mgs/daily for the past 3 days? IVing any fun? (these pills are like the size of the end of a filter on a cigarette, like the diameter of the cigarette is the same size of the pills, so they are fucking small which means not alot of binder..

What's the high like? Euphoric? Anything worth actually trying on my free time since I cannot do any other drugs..

So what would you guys do?

Thanks guys!

I would rail them. I wouldn't however IV them, it's very dangerous.

The high is just slightly better than caffeine. Nothing special.

So it's not even like an amphetamine high? If the high is slightly better than caffeine then why would it be a CONTROL-II drug??

Anyone else have any opinions on this subject? So it doesn't really have any value in helping ADD, I mean if it's not more than a little bit powerful than caffeine then why the hell would it be good for ADD??

Thanks...

^ because dumbshit kids abuse it.

It's more potent than caffeine but that's not what matters. What matter is the quality of the high. The jitteriness and anxiousness is not much better than caffeine really.

I don't get any of those side effects, so it should help my ADD? Because thats what I am mainly worried about, because I am just starting college and I really need some help with my concentration..... What should I say to my doctor to convince him to get me on some other ADD medication that would help more without making him think that I am just trying to get high? Because I am not...

Thanks for you help man..

So you want a more effective ADD medications or just a more abusable one? it sounded like you wanted to abuse the ritalin.

You should stick with the ritalin if you don't get any bad side effects.

No I do not want to get high, I was just wondering because the methadone clinic was getting all serious about it, so I thought it was some powerful get high stimulant... but yah...

Any Ideas? I made a thread on it.. I told how I get a headache at the end of the day, and it feels like it works but it doesnt work to the effect where I can fully concentrate, it does feel like i just took some caffeine..

Thanks for you help.

i'm a little confused as well...what, exactly, are you trying to do - get high? improve concentration? both? (you can't have both, btw)

doesn't matter anyway. ritalin sucks. i'd see if i could sell it to someone even more clueless than yourself, and use the money to get some coke. i don't think it'll do much for your attention span (unless you really do have ADHD and you do small, therapeutic-sized amounts...but that's no fun), but if you get some good stuff it'll kick like a mule.

I AM NOT TRYING TO GET HIGH, let me clear that up, i was thinking about it because I am of course an addict, but in the end I care more about my ADD and concentration, so can you please help me? I don't use recreational drugs, and I could not even if i wanted to.

So any ideas on what I can say to maybe try any other stimulant that is not Ritalin, because it hasn't been seeming to work, and I have been reading alot about it and noticing I feel the same way on it as do other users, that in turn say they tried another one that was more successful.

I am just really anxious about starting college without being on the proper medication for my ADD, So I am trying to do this as quick and safe as possible so I can get help prior to going to school, so I do not have to keep switching medications untill I find the right one during school, I rather get this done before, I hope you understand.

Thanks.

^ Their is Bupropion (wellbutrin), Atomoxetine (strattera). They have no abuse potential, but aren't the best ADD meds. Bupro is off-label treatment for ADD anyway.

More abusable ones would be amphetamines like adderall, dextroamphetamine (dexedrine), and dextromethamphetamine (desoxyn).

Thanks for the info, although I was looking for some more if you don't mind..

I am taking Ritalin, actually methylin, but same shit I think. Although on the ritalin I feel like it works "kind of" like i feel somewhat better at concentrating but feel like it still isnt enough or a big enough difference in a feeling to actually help me.

So basiccly, I am asking "How can I explain to my doctor that I would like to try another stimulant other than ritalin, only after 1 1/2 weeks of trying the ritalin" Keep in mind I have tried adderall in the past, although it was not through a doctor and it worked wonders, so now I am kinda stumped as to what I should tell my doctor, the truth, or just play along with the ritalin and risk doing poorly in school.

So how do you think I should bring this up with him, he is a bit open minded but knows I am an recovering addict (clean for 7months) and he has access to the results of my 2 UA's a week(all clean for 7months) an hope that maybe he will try another stimulant on me instead of just thinking, "ritalin didnt work so none other stimulants will work".

Thanks again guys! Sorry for all the confusion.

I enjoyed the hell out of my concerta. If it wasn't for the hard crash, I would have stayed on them forever.

I figuired out my game plan, thanks for the help Tsukasa, it all really helped and inspired me, once again thank you!

best thing is wait. Most people get impatient. Shut up, wait a month, bite the bullet, and then complain about it not working, so the doc sees you gave it a honest try. With time, most good things come flying through the window, ya know ;)?

Good advice, finally someone with some positive advice! ;) hahaha

Thanks for all the info and opinions guys!

I will give it a month and then see what happens, thanks again!

See yaz!

It is definitely recreational. It's more like a long, drawn out cocaine high than anything any amphetamines will ever give you.

Personally, I prefer DARIs to DA-Releasers.

Ritalin produces a very anxiety-ridden and uncomfortable high for me. I find that Adderall and Dexedrine do a way better job of keeping me on task, and they also make me feel awesome. Vyvanse is also a really good candidate, but that's still relatively new and everyone seems to have split opinions on it...

Methylphenidate intranasally is one of my favourite stimulants to date. I wouldn't suggest sniffing them, because that's damaging to the nostrils/nose/whatever that thing is between your eyes. I recommend taking your perscribed dose, orally. Tell me how you like them. Like Ham-milton said, if it wasn't for the crash---I'd be on them instead of adderall. Also, it is like a long, drawn out cocaine high. Arrogance included.

PeyoteVisions -- it's not stronger than ritalin per se, it's just the isolated dextro isomer of methylphenidate which attributes to more of the "fun" effects, as opposed to the levo-methylphenidate peripheral edginess-ish-ness.
