I know they don't have his death ruled as drug related yet, it's listed as cardiac arrest but even if it's indirectly I'm sure drugs played a role. I'm sick of this disease winning out on us addicts. I've heard many people state shit like well that's what you get when you use and even if it is true people need to realize it's a disease. No one says they want to be a dope addict when they get older it is a sickness that usualy controls us until it kills us.
I seen STP 3x in the 90's and even when Weiland was heavy into active addiction they put on some really good shows. I'm big fan of Core and Purple albums and will forever miss Mr. Weilands contributions to my generations(the 90's) music.
Will we ever enter another great phase of music? I think file sharing sites have destroyed the recording industry because groups can no longer be developed. they need to have a hit right away and if they do the follow up shit usually sucks because these artists never get to develop a soul because of the instant gratification the business is al about.
Anyway we will miss you Scott again RIP!

I hadn't heard about this.
Must admit i've not heard anything he's done in the last 15+ years, but i used to like stone temple pilots a bit in high school.
Dude had a pretty big drug history, but i don't want to jump to any conclusions.

Bandmate Tommy Black has been busted for some Coke.
Unconfirmed reports that Scott was back on crack a few days before his death.

Sad loss, the guy was a legend . Just check his Tripping on a hole in a paper heart performance at Rolling Rock over on YT.
Made even more tragic when you consider his Brother died of an OD a few years ago & his Guitarist Jeremy Brown died this past summer ( also drug related)

STP were a big part of my lifes soundtrack & his solo stuff was awesome as well.

RIP Scott Weiland

There was cocaine found on the tour bus so I am assuming it payed a role but even if it didn't I'm sure the years of heavy abuse probably contributed to his heart problem! You are a mod aren't you supposed to know all, you should be ashamed(lol, just kidding buddy you know I love ya!). I said that because someone was jumping on a mod for not knowing something and I was like dickhead they are volunteers that do this extra work for the passion of this site and they aren't infallible!
Anyway he had some really good music with slash and Duff from Guns and Roses the band was Velvet Revolver but it wasn't quite in the same class as STP!

Pretty depressing. The frontmen of the three bands I used to listen to the most in the 90s are now gone (Cobain and Layne Staley being the others). RIP, man. Thank you and the others for all the music you put out that resonated with me so much at the time. :(

Scott was a mega talent. I would hope that all the people that are sad about his passing, learn from the negative aspects of his addiction and how addiction could put the flame out on a guy with much more to give. Sure he, Cobain, Staley, Andrew Wood all had a disease, but they all passed too soon. Lets work on the disease. I'm sick of my brothers and sisters dying.

Sucks, I only really liked Tiny Music, hated Velvet Revolver even liking everyone in it... but the dude put on a hell of a show up until the end. Shit, dude should of joined the 27 club, it was good he got all the time he did.

I listened to STP exclusively like the first three months after he died :(

I hear that, they are the three bands I listened too the most also. I was devastated to hear about Scott Weiland too, just like when I heard about Layne and Kurt. They will always be missed.

Alice in Chains have been my favorite band sine 1990, hands down. Close runners up are System of a Down, KMFDM, and of course let's not forget Nirvana!
