RIP HUnter Thompson

"The Torch that burns brightest, burns fastest" I Respect what he did in that it was his final rejection of society, and I always thought I'd like to go that way before I got old, out before I'm over the hill.

Well hindsight is 20/20 or so they say and when I look back at the 20th century I see nothing but stinking communist failure, who's laughing now eh?

OH YEAH...way to stereotype all anti-communists as nazis...BIGOT

Not Calling you a Nazi, I'm calling you a Facsist and using Nazi's as an example, just as others use Stalin as an example of communism. Not a Bigot, I don't agree with the view but I'm willing to overlook it, read my post you Nincumpoop(ha ha , i love that word)

fucking sweet bra, im of, to high to type anymore, see u dude, peace "you can turn your back on a person but never turn your back on a drug"

hmm i made a thread about this.

Considering he loves firearms this is a fitting way to go for the old guy:\ :(

On my birthday to wtf

i'm going to move this to drug culture where it can be merged with the 3 other hunter s. thompson threads already in progress.

How old was he? I wonder if he was totally at peace, and just felt like taking his journey someplace else. Maybe?

and Communism sounds all nice and swell in theory, but when you add the reality of the "human element" into the mix, it's just a fucking failure of a joke. It could never last too long.

yah that's why we need computers/robots to enforce it and once we did it just cross your fingers and wish that we won't be wishing for a Neo someday.

He was 67 years old. Hope he was happy. Hunter Thompson has proabably had a bigger influence on my life than any other person.

Here are some quotes that lead me to believe he shot himself over the state of the world today.

‘The Big Finale Was a Big Disappointment,’ April 6, 2004

"The 2004 presidential election will be a matter of life or death for the whole nation. We are sick today, and we will be even sicker tomorrow if this wretched half-bright swine of a president gets re-elected in November."
‘Let’s Go to the Olympics!’ May 18, 2004

"These horrifying digital snapshots of the American dream in action on foreign soil are worse than anything even I could have expected. I have been in this business a long time and I have seen many staggering things, but this one is over the line. Now I am really ashamed to carry an American passport."

‘The Bush League,’ Sept. 9, 2003

"Why are we seeing George Bush on TV every two hours for nine or ten days at a time, like some kind of mutated Mr. Rogers clone? Something is dangerously wrong in any country where a monumentally-Failed backwoods politician can scare our national TV networks so totally that they will give him anything he wants."

‘Big Darkness,’ July 22, 2003

"But wow! This goofy child president we have on our hands now. He is demonstrably a fool and a failure, and this is only the summer of '03. The American nation is in the worst condition I can remember in my lifetime, and our prospects for the immediate future are even worse. . . The Bush family must be very proud of themselves today, but I am not. Big Darkness, soon come. Take my word for it."

‘When War Drums Roll,’ Sept. 17, 2001

"The last half of the 20th century will seem like a wild party for rich kids, compared to what's coming now. The party's over, folks. . . [Censorship of the news] is a given in wartime, along with massive campaigns of deliberately-planted ‘Dis-information.’ That is routine behavior in Wartime -- for all countries and all combatants -- and it makes life difficult for people who value real news."
