Hi, a Riddle for you..If no one answers correctly, I'll post the answer in a while :D

Each time you remove a letter from it, it still remains an English word - from nine letters right down to a single letter. What is the original word, and what are the words that it becomes after removing one letter at a time? [/FONT]

Is it the last letter that is meant to be removed each time or can you take a letter from anywhere in the word?
