So, on to the point of this thread.

Here is some information on Casper and Snuggles, for those that aren't already familiar.

CASPER
In the 90s, Casper established himself as one of the top atmospheric / jazzy drum & bass DJs in the country. While attending college in Boston, Casper was a resident DJ at one of the first weekly drum and bass nights in the US - Jungle Roots - from 1995 to 1997. From 1996 to 1999, he maintained a residency on the longest running weekly drum and bass radio show in the country - Strictly Jungle Chicago on WNUR FM w/ DJ Snuggles. On the production tip, Casper worked with Chris J on several atmospheric d&b projects. Their track, "Mysteries", was released on LTJ Bukem's Good Looking Records in 2001 under the alias Cascade. Two other tunes from that era - "Revelation" and "Symmetry" finally saw the light of day in 2003 on S.F. imprint True Intent.
From 1999 to 2002, Casper took a break from d&b in order to push the sound of UK garage in the US. After hearing UK garage on pirate radio in London, he immediately fell in love with it. He began buying 2-step records and playing them for anyone who would listen. Casper established himself as "the leading 2-step DJ in the US" (Urb Magazine). In July 2000, Casper became the first American DJ to play UK garage in London - dropping massive sets at Liberty (Club Colosseum) and on pirate radio station Life FM. He was selected for the 2002 Urb Next 100 and received an 8/10 review in Mixer for mix CD "HWS 2: Reclaim the Future."

In 2002, Casper experienced a change of heart and decided to return to his d&b roots. "The music is just too good to ignore," Casper says. "Once it's in your blood, you're infected, and there's nothing you can do to stop it."


SNUGGLES
Snuggles began DJ'ing in Houston in 1992 in the original Spin Cycle crew with DJ Wisc. They were hooked on the UK hardcore sound that was being played at raves, and both adopted that music as their primary style. In 1993, Snuggles moved to Chicago where he quickly became entrenched in the city's burgeoning jungle scene. Alongside JJ Jellybean, Phantom 45, and RP Smack, Snuggles was responsible for bringing the music to the forefront throughout 1994, including collaborating on the legendary CHA (Chicago Hardcore Authority) Magazine and playing at many of the first drum & bass all-nighters in Chicago thrown by Ripe Productions and Jungle Ting. These parties like Fuse, Universal Love, Big Sexy Bass, Pure (NYE 94), and 95 Brockout still to this day remain some of the best parties in Chicago's storied history.
In January of 1995, Snuggles began hosting the Strictly Jungle show on 89.3 WNUR FM, the first weekly jungle radio program in the country. The show ran for five years and was the most widely respected and listened to drum & bass program in the country. Guests over the years included UK luminaries such as Goldie, Marvelous Cain and Zinc, just to name a few. Residents on the show included JJ Jellybean, MC Blackeye, DJ Slak, Casper, DJ 3D, and Ry-N. Even years after the show ended, Strictly Jungle remains the blueprint for every other d&b radio program in the US.

Snuggles has also been busy on the production side of things, releasing tunes on Ghetto Safari, Stepwise, Kultbox, Advance, and his own label (with 3D) Forte. Tracks such as "The Reckoning", "Rockin' It" and "How Ya Like Me Now" have appeared on compilations for Geffen, Evil Teen, and Jungle Sky. Expect much more in the future; like the rest of his crew, Snuggles is definitely not one to rest on his laurels.

ADAM JAY

Residing in a city known more for motor sports than music, Adam Jay has proven himself to be a prominent figure in the world of techno through musical output alone. Classically trained since childhood, his influences span styles of music from around the world. His first output was shared between jazz and funk as an aspiring clarinetist and bassist. His passion for having complete control of both the rhythm section and the lead section lead Adam away from traditional bands and ensembles and towards electronic music production.

DJing at the age of 16 in 1997, Adam’s skills as a performer were quickly developed. Performing at the historic East Town Theatre (in its heyday hosting the likes of Hendrix, Joplin, and James Brown) in Detroit on his 18th birthday marked the true beginning of an illustrious career as a DJ. Live Pa’s naturally followed with the request of a live performance alongside Marco Carola and Funk D’Void in 2001.

Azure Records was formed in 1998 by Adam Jay as an expression of funk and soul within techno music by various American artists, unknown and well known. Outside of Azure, Adam’s debut 12” output was heard on Placktown Sounds #23 “Ornithopter”. An immediate classic in the global techno community, this release paved the way for the timeless EP on Primevil, “The Wrath”. Other releases soon followed on Sweden’s Zync Records, and England’s Primate Recordings. Chromagnon Recordings was then formed by Adam Jay as an outlet for more up front and menacing tracks. When DJ T-1000 was asked about Adam’s recent output on such labels the response was simply “Damn!”

As a DJ and producer, Adam was consulted as a resource for the book “A Study of Rhythm and Meter in Electronic Dance Music” by Mark Butler. “The Punish Techno Show” radio program in Dublin, Ireland has also requested exclusive live performances from Adam for broadcast. Other accomplishments include a sponsorship by the German company Music and More (MAM) as thanks for the exceptional use and promotion of their products, and the licensing of “The Wrath” on DJ C-1’s Intec Records mixed compilation, “Shifting Gears”.

BEET AND THE BAD LIEUTENANT

A nine year producing / performing partnership and friendship has led these two producers to their latest live project, Voigt-Kampff. Known most prominently for co-founding and producing the nationally and regionally known live five man drum and bass phoneme Twilightsleep, these two veteran producers have begun to perk the ears of national and international dj's and producers with their latest brand of live, dark, rolling, drum and bass.

Emmit and Beethead began their journey together while performing in and indie rock band in college. Beethead on drums and Emmit thinking he was a singer. After leaving school and taking a stab at the scene in Columbus, Ohio, the pair moved to Cincinnati with the aspirations of creating something new. It was at this time that Emmit had given up the idea of just being a vocalist and taken to the bass as well as nurturing his love of audio technology. Beethead had just begun his career teaching percussion in several different schools and universities in the midwest.

The two had an idea to put together a band that would emulate electronic music, but with live instrumentation. They then enlisted the efforts of Tim Shrider and Matt Steffan to help shape the burgeoning Twilightsleep. As the four began to develop its dub type sound, they began to experience other forms of electronic music. Beethead and Emmit began to include analog keyboards into their live rigs......Emmit playing electric bass, guitar, and keys....Beethead playing percussion (or anything he could bang on) and keys...Tim on the drum kit....and Matt on guitar and effects.

In 1998 the foursome heard a record by Ronnie Size and Reprazent. The days of dub were over. Drum and bass became Twilightsleep's focus. As they began to listen to all and any drum and bass they could find, they ran into Cincinnati local dj, K-frey. He instantly fit in. Kevin was added to the group on keys and sequencing. The now five some began producing and performing it's all live drum and bass at parties and clubs. It was instantly a crowd favorite.

A year after their first performance, Twilightsleep was signed to then New York based Mush records. Emmit by this time, was working in an audio store designing and configuring recording studios, as well as building his own. The group continued to perform, while spending countless hours in the studio working on their first release for Mush Records. It was at this time that Beethead and Emmit developed a real symbiosis for producing together. The two gelled, and a higher calling was discovered.

In November of 2001, Twilightsleep disbanded before finishing it's full length EP for Mush Records. It was at this time that Beet and Emmit immediately set to work on what was to become Voigt-Kampff. Drawing from five years of drum and bass production experience the two quickly produced enough music to perform at a party (Rock the Bells) opening for Dieselboy only one month after Twilightsleep had broken up. The new live duo went over well with the crowd and Voigt-Kampff was born.

January 2002, the two found themselves on tour with Biotic/xxx records figureheads Facs and B Key, as well as prominent Chicago dj/producer and Semiconscious Media owner Kid Entropy .

Since gaining regional followings in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Illinois, Emmit and Beethead have had the opportunity to perform with the likes of Soulslinger, Sage, and UFO!, as well as having produced with Kid Entropy and UFO!. The two are quickly becoming two American drum and bass producers to watch as they prepare for their first release on their own imprint Zeropoint Records, with other label releases pending.
 
Adam Jay, VK, MC Ronin, and Vinny Bricks all had kickass performances last night at technacolour!

if you old school kids will remember, its been two years since indy's had a halloween party. and the scene up here is just starting to pick up, slightly...

most people in the scene in indy dont have the cash to drive down to ohio, so having an alternative which will be bad ass btw doesn't hurt.

good luck with your party guys. maybe next year you all could throw a big ass party together... but guess that will have to wait.
 
Okay dude.... first off i posted on your thread only to correct the fact that you were flat wrong and bold to announce that you were the midwests only real halloween party... that shows you are just stratight unexperienced... thats like claiming new years as well... every year there at least a couple of halloween parties regaurdless and back in the day there used to be a party every weekend before durring and after the week of halloween in every city by different companies... the other reason was to actually say good luck... i meant that because im down to show every one where its at in the US and in my opinion after doin the east coast each summer, they have jack shit on us as far as talent is and we can do soo much better... So you decided to hype up our thread and give us some publicity? thanks dont do that it does suck (typed sarcasm), Its not even competing... I fuckin love casper that shit brings me back and some people will be down to stay closer to see him and some might wanna see what we got... and i know lots of kids that love some old school dnb that will prally drive to see your shit... but just dont start to presume 2 months in advance that your shit is the only thing happening in a region that is blowing up (well indiana and kentucky are blowin back up)... so next time before your balls get to big make sure you know that you are the only party... and in my opinon we are both hurtin compared to pure dnb those are the mean ones, nov 1st? so cruel to put so much of my love for dnb in a room the day after halloween... oh well they are gonna keep me on my toes and make me as strung out as i am now... its gonna be a hardcore weekend for alot of people im sure... dont worry we wont wanna "hijack your thread anymore"... but thanks for makin sure our shit was nice and dramafied, it adds excitement already!

ps. tnks josh and noam for bringing snuggles.. i have been asking/suggesting this to promoters since 4/22/2000 (the last time he was here - Bounce in Dayton.. will always remember b/c it was 4/22.. but they had 4:20 for the time on the scoreboard all night.. i wonder why?? :D)
