Yes, reverse tolerance is possible. I experienced reverse tolerance with both MDMA and cocaine, it doesn't last however.
After speaking to some people whose knowledge of biochem/neuroscience I considered trustworthy enough to accept as an answer until I learn more, they attributed it most likely to a chemical imbalance most likely related to my bi-polar condition. My serotonin system is not functioning like the average human's already, so unusual results can be expected. They also predicted it would only be temporary (and it was).
Are you diagnosed with any psychiatric conditions, or have a strong suspicion you might have one? If so, that could be a potential explanation for the effects you are perceiving.
I went from using 100mg a line (yes I measured my cocaine lines, and also have a bp monitor!) to about 25mg bumps over the course of multiple days of usage, and it still worked, and was too strong if I did more than my reduced amount. This is with sleeping at 4 to 6 hours at night. The reverse tolerance has since gone away, but I haven't gained an increasing tolerance yet. However I've quit coke in favor of adderall, so not sure if it's still that way.
My MDMA usage was consistently 1 tab, and I ended up quitting because it got too strong, and I didn't want to be that "fucked up" in public.
Few months later, MDMA tolerance had gone back up, and I took it every weekend for a few more weeks with the same experience of decreased tolerance each time. Then I made the mistake of taking 2 once. Strongest roll ever, and ever since, my tolerance goes up with each use, and takes months to go back down... :/
Now it appears I have a normal tolerance.
