Opioids Reverse Tolerance & Opiates

Hey everyone,

My question pertains to the possibility of a reverse tolerance in opiates and why it might occur.

I've been using kratom on and off for a few years, always in relative moderation, occasionally using daily but not at high doses, or long enough to give a really bad withdrawal. Over time, ive had to use less and less kratom, after each kratom break ive used less. Currently I only need around 0.3g to feel good effects from Kratom (I used to use 5g when I started, a "normal dose")

I became curious if my tolerance for all opiates was reduced. I took around 8-9mg of codeine (a bit more than 1/4 of a single 28mg codeine tablet that I have). I felt very strong effects for about 5 hours, both mental and physical. From what i've read, this shouldnt even be a threshold dose.

This worries me, because if I was ever given an opiate at a hospital without my knowing, I would overdose.

I haven't really read anything about this problem anywhere. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks
