Opioids Restless Leg Syndrome

A Dopamine Agonist seems to be one of the more preferred options for docs but even then my doc wasn't too up for the idea when we looked over it.
She did give me a mass of print outs though - full of suggestions to help (some stupid, some useful) which, when I've time, I'll type it out and add it to here.
Hopefully it'll be of some help :)

I actually didn't notice having any symptoms of Restless Leg Syndrome until after I stopped using opiates, even after the withdrawals have subsided. I do find that benzos help to an extent, like others have said. At least they make it tolerable.

Looking forward to seeing some other ideas. Opiates have been the only thing that have helped me, but even when I am not using, I have, for as long as I can remember had the problem. :X

Cool man :) I'll try get it up here in the next couple of days.
That sucks that yer stuck with RLS and it not being a direct result of using Opiates :\

I seem to get it a lot during physical withdrawals (worst thing for me) and then it pops up again periodically during PAWS.
I fuckin hate the stuff :|
Gunna hopefully get on Codeine which would leave me with something to fall back on when cravings get really intense and also it'll stop any RLS happening at night.

i'd try out either clonidine or tizanidine.. they are both related one is a blood pressure med and the latter a muscle relaxer (which may work better) good luck

thnx for all the help and answers and support. I got neurontin and Flexeril today....

Will these work based upon what you guys said. Neurontin and then flexeril for the muscle relax....

Will these 2 work? Doc has me doing 1200 MG of Neurotin and 30Mgs of flexeril (dosed 3 times a day)

Just got this stuff today will it work? What exactly will the neurotin do for my opiate related RLS?

Myself and my husband are going to have another try at doing a home detox as from tomorrow. I have been using for about 13 years now, my husband about 4/5 years. We no longer inject (it is physically impossible for me!), we smoke it. We are both completely fed up of having this manacle of an addiction. It is difficult as we have a 7 year old son! However, we do have methadone and vallium stored away for our detox. -Any advice anyone can give us would be greatly apprieciated. X

neaurotin is taken to help avoiding seizures its also taken for nerve damage i think.when i was in rehab the doc hav me neurotin when i complained bout the rls. I never really gave it a shot tho cuz the doc said it takes like 2 weeks to even start to work( if it even does) but i did find that it helped me sleep alittle.Pretty much same story with the flexeril never really helped me much except for the first couple times i took it.Give it a try tho they defenetly hav potential to help.
as for clonodine never took away my rls but helped me sleep a bit but also made me feel like a zombie after i woke up a hour later
good luck

Kunmo, the neurontin can be your best bet during opiate withdrawal. I have wd from them a few times and the last time neurontin helped immediately after taking a dose of 600mgs, but I was only on Lortab 7.5 x 4-5 / day. (I've been on WAY more before b/c of medical issues but have learned my lesson after wd from Fentanyl) I slept like a baby during wd this past time after I took 900mg Neurontin and 40mgs Flexeril. I also had Klonopin for a few days too.

My arms would get restless too. I still wake up with my arms hurting from PAWS. One thing that helps is using a resistance band/thera-band. It works my arms out and makes the nerves too tired to act up. I bet you could do that with your legs. Also.. a hot bath.. as many as you can take.
But I still take Neurontin and/or Lyrica for my FMS every day and it helps with the restless leg issue. I stopped taking Klonopin b/c I just want to avoid anything I could get addicted to. I get addicted to pretty much anything. haha.

do you have access to lyrica or gabapentin...they work wonders for RLS and basically 75% of any withdrawal symptom you got. atleast with me it does and did and is as we speak plus zanaflex which works on the α-2 adrenergic agonist like colonodine or however you spell it basically its a muscle relaxer that lowers your blood pressure alot and yoiu feel weak but no symptoms of opiate w/d so if you have access ...try it out

Other than narcotics anyone can pretty much have access to anything online. I might get some of that stuff and try it out. I can handle the lethargy but the physical part and crushing depression/anxiety is murder.

one thing that i've found that helps is a shit load of potassium. when i wake up in the middle of the night i'll go and chomp like two or three bananas and i can usuallly fall back asleep after that, at least for a little while. Obviiously some kind of supplement from the vitamin store might be even better.

Well doc gave me Tramadol today.... Kinda like an opiate kinda not.... synthetic

had to do 300MG but it killed my RLS and mixing it with the nuerotin and flexiril and pot gave a pretty nice high.....

Tramadol will just delay the withdrawal. It is pretty much an opiate.

Has anyone ever used Mirapex for RLS? If so, how did it work?

It is quite effective for general RLS but has some strange side effects like impulsivity and problem gambling.

I've read about many people trying it for opiate-withdrawal RLS without any success.
