    who have passed away

Rest In Peace Bill (thanks to all bluelighters for their support)

Bill was the smartest person I have ever known. It is still a shock to think that we'll never hear him ask anyone 'how u bean?' (imagine Bill showing everyone a real bean that he procured from who knows where).
I'll always look on the day that Bens car broke down fondly.
We'll miss you Bill, AKA Bill Bin Laden,AKA The new Russell.com.au
www.goodbybill.com <-- this is not a real website, this is a tribute to a running gag of Bills.
I didn't know you well Bill but you will be missed.

Updated information...
We have just returned from the search scene and wanted to let people know more details.
Mort and myself are Bill's flatmates. We returned from overseas late Wednesday night to find that Bill was not at home and from what we could tell, he hadn't been home since the weekend.
On Thursday morning, we called Bill's work and were informed that he hadn't been in all week. This is _extremely_ unusual behaviour for Bill. Many of you probably know 'weekend' Bill - hyper, happy, and talking about the strangest things that you've ever heard. 'Week' Bill, as we referred to him, was an extremely hard-working and dedicated software engineer. And probably one of the brightest people I've ever met. Once we realized that he hadn't been to work for days, we called some of Bill's other close friends in an attempt to track him down. These included Heath, Shayne, and Diego.
Between the 5 of us, we were able to determine that Bill went to arcadia. Further discussions with the organizers of the event and people who saw him there allowed us to narrow down when he was last seen. Armed with this info, we contacted Bill's parents, and went to the police to file a missing persons report.
We have nothing but praise for the quick action of the Victorian police, SES, and the CFA. Within an hour of going to the police, they began the search at Warburton. We headed out to Warburton as well, but by this time it was dark and the search was suspended for the evening.
We camped up there last night and the search began again this morning. Bill's body was found about 500 metres from the dancefloor. It appears that he wandered off at dusk up steep incline in a forested area. On the way down, he slipped and fell - likely, fatally injuring himself.
Contrary to rumours that have been circulating, we have first-hand reports and strong reasons to believe that Bill was not under the influence of any drugs at the time.
We thank everyone for their support. Over the next few days, after we have met with his parents again, we will make every attempt to let people know details of a memorial service. As of yet, none of this has been worked out and we obviously want to speak with his parents to find out what their wishes are.
And thanks to Soma and Nezo for posting updates for us while we were at the site.

I apologise in advance for this piece of self-indulgance.
I've met bill a couple of times, but I certainly wouldn't consider myself a friend, or even really an aquaintance. I write this more as a word of thanks. It never ceases to amaze me to the depth of brotherhood (and sisterhood) that exists amongst a group of people who the only thing they have in common when they first come here is (usually) the internet and drug use. I've seen people from all backgrounds come together to form more than just a message board, more than just a group of friends. No matter what brings us here, there is something that keeps us here that is beyond my comprehension of anything I have ever seen before.

Thanks VooDoo Gurl, Mort and company for making that post to inform us, although it must have been extremely difficult.

RIP Bill from Clare & Paul
It was also great to see your smiling face at every party I went to...spreading a happy vibe everywhere you stepped.
Sadly missed by all

a sad day, indeed. terrible terrible news.
best of luck, Bill.
DQ.

I thank Bill, and emplore the impact he has made on my friends and myself. Without him there would be so many things I would have never thought of, so many avenues of conversation never visisted and so many times that were never had. A happy memory will always remain. One that will always cheer me up in the quiet moments I have to think to myself.
Even for those who didn't know Bill, just knowing people who did mean's he has changed your life in some way.. no matter how small it may be.. maybe a joke you heard.. maybe a story.
I will miss him but he will always be there, eternally.
If his close friends can just come up with even one word to describe Bill, just to let everyone else enjoy who he was and the kind of differences he made in all our lives. Post it here... just to let the world know.
Forever missed, always loved. Goodbye Bill, my friend. I will always be proud to say I knew you.
