I heard on JJJ today that the National Drug and Alcohol Reasearch Centre is doing research into the use of GHB.
They want anyone who has used it to call them up and contribute to their research by answering some questions, sounds like they'll be doing a basic interview.

I heard this on triple J & they said it can sometimes be called other things like liquid extasy & can come in a liquid form
My boyfrined had "fantasy" - a liqiud of some sort
Is this GHB, if not, what is "fantasy"
Maybe its nothing & he got ripped off - hee hee
 
is ghb a controled substance in australia??...just wondering...peace, billy...
 
This could be a little off the topic, but has something to do with the title.. uh kind of..
G is a fairly safe drug. blah blah blah. apparently the only reason it was banned by the FDA was because it had the potential to become the biggest new sleeping aid on the scene. offering few side effects, very low toxicity and being very efficient. aswell as being a less expensive alternative to sleeping pills on the market.
apparently the FDA was linked closely with a number of pharmaceutical companies which represented a large percentage of sleeping pills on the market. which is one reason why it may have been banned. to protect their own financial interests...

oh, and the FDA has also banned L-tryptophan, another nutrient that functions as a safe and effective sleep aid.. coincidence?
 
i've also heard around the traps that it was banned b/c it was being used as a date rape drug - ie: tres dodgois ppl were slipping it into the alcoholic bevvies of lassies at the pub and then taking them home.....
i'm prolly gonna do this interview thingo, too.

The synthetic form of L-Tryptophan may have been banned by the FDA (not that that is directly connected to Aust*) but the natural form 5-HTP is available over the counter in the US and UK but not here.
Read up on 5-HTP, it sounds really useful for seratonin replenishment.
I have ordered some over the net and will post my results.

* not really wanting to start a debate based on the new drug approval legislation in Aust. requiring minimal testing if substance is FDA approved.
 
i really encourage you all - especially the girlies out there, to do this survey. the ndarc has almost no info on ghb use in australia and is trying to gather some so that it can produce harm minimisation material for users.
i did the interview tonight - easy as pie...it's totally confidential, and you even get $30 to cover your "travel" expenses (hehe...a walk around the corner in my case)
i was also the first girl to be interviewed of the 25 some ppl the woman had seen, so gals if you're interested, pls do give them a call - she's interested in our side too!
 
a lot of my friends take it .. i never have.
apparently it is good when u r coming down and it feels REALLY good.
but it is basically CD cleaner .. or it comes in 1 litre bottles labelled to that effect.
i dont take it because i think i have a good enough time on pills.

Regarding L-Tryptophan, wasn't it banned because of a contaminent Peak x that was linked to a number of deaths? 5-htp is a better supplement anyways as it doesn't compete with other proteins when crossing the blood/brain barrier...

) so i don't see why they wouldn't want info from other states.

Blue Light Bulb: and your right, dont drink that, its called 1,4 Butanediol (sp?) and is used as a [/b]substitute[/b] for GHB. It isn't GHB, and it sure as hell isn't good for you either!! Don't drink it, its really really bad stuff...

radiance, stop with your biafra style conspiracy theorising. there are other reasons the FDA banned ghb. ie:
the fact that in combination with alcohol and not alltogether excessive amounts it can be fatal.
a class of drugs called bezodiazapenes, which valium is a member of; are legally prescribable. but they can be lethal in combination with alcohol and are also the worst drug to come off of. if you are suffering benzo addiction you will have to be weened off them because if you withdrawl immediately, you die.
i think the FDA has been correct in what they did with G. the FDA has no real need to add G to the list of available medication.
